So this little Pug, (Pocket rocket) appeared out of nowhere chasing a ball on the beach.
"multum in parvo, or "much in little" or "a lot of dog in a small space"
The light was still bad, as we had rain earlier, but I thought that there would be good bird shots to be taken at the beach and so we popped down to have a look.
I was right, as the birds were there, but an unexpected pet arrived.
Like I said, the birds were there and the scene was very peaceful.
This little guy only had eyes for his ball and he stormed after it right through the birds.
Of course the birds rose up in cloud of fright.
But this guy did not care as he was after his ball.
Chinese origins 2000 years ago!
Pugs were brought from China to Europe in the sixteenth century. Similar dogs were popular in the Imperial court during the Song Dynasty.
In ancient times, Pugs were bred to be companions for ruling families in China. The pet Pugs were highly valued by Chinese Emperors, and the royal dogs were kept in luxury and guarded by soldiers. Pugs later spread to other parts of Asia. In Tibet, Buddhist monks kept Pugs as pets in their monasteries. The breed has retained its affectionate devotion to its owners since ancient times.

He grabbed the ball and kept an eye on the incoming water.
Turned around like a champion sprinter and started on his way back.

Finally he was back, only to wait anxiously for his owner to throw the ball again.
Simple games that our best friends love and it keeps them healthy and in good health.
There is a fascinating history about the Pug breed at the link above and you will be amazed to learn that they were even used as guard dogs. The Kings and Queens loved them and the Pug breed spread all over the world.
