I just found out that August 8th is International Cats' Day. So to all you little bossy felines out there, happy cats day to you. Although really, it seems like everyday is cats' day. You little bosses all just get things your way. One way or another. To the two little feline bosses on the house and to the one still waiting to be let in, we love you with all our hearts. You have made our little happy home even happier.
One way of caring for our little feline friends is making sure that, first and foremost, they are fed. Regularly. I mean they really will pester the heck out of you should they feel the tiniest little bit of hunger in their system. Even after you've fed them just a few minutes ago. We want to make sure these insatiable little beasts lovable furry friends are fully fed at all times.
Of course we'd also want to make sure they have the most comfortable homes. They are very particular with where they lay on. They want it cozy. They want it warm amd homey. They want they sleeping places as comfortable as can be. That's why only the best cardboard boxes will do. No. Not that highly expensive cat condo ehich you oh so painstakingly chose and paid a costly shipping for. Not that one. The new cardboard box from the grocery should do fine.
We also wouldn't want our little forever babies be bored. Let's make sure they have toys. Now they're not too crazy about chew toys. They don't sharpen their teeth too often. But they do want to make sure their claws are in perfect shape. Don't bother buying them scratch posts. Your sofa will do just fine. My babies also love trash toys. They tend to go crazy over the ceumoling sound of plastics or papers. Those keep them busy for hours.
But most importantly, do not forget to take care of their health. Keep their vaccines up to date. Once they start their heat cycle, make sure to have them spayed/neutered. Our little Kalinga amd Hiraya just got spayed last June on a low cost Spay/Neuter event at our place. The event was organized by Honey Cats and Doc Gab Veterinarian.
It is essential that our pets be spayed as soon as they start their heat cycle. Have you ever seen or hear a cat in heat? They meow like something hurts in them. And they spray pee all over the place because they want to leave a scent for the males to find them. It took me months to clean up all of those around the house.
This was the first time I've ever seen a cat beong spayed. It turns out to be a really quick and easy procedure. What took long was waiting for the cats to wake up from the anaesthesia. I was looking at all the cats on the event, one would think the worst at first look. But they're all just sleeping, starting to recover from the procedure.
At home, out 2 little kitties had to stay on 2 separate cages. They did not appreciate having to wear the elizabethan collars I bought them. I think they look like cute little flowers waiting to be picked. It took 2 weeks for them to fully recover. Hiraya, being the mischievous little one that she is took longer because she nipped her wound when nobody was watching. The stitch opened up a bit amd she had to stay on isolation a little longer than Kalinga. Of course she wasn't too happy about it.
Our latest little one is still on her 14-day isolation. Just a few more days amd she will be allowed to get inside - still in a cage because she still needs some more rest but at least inside the house. I'm still not sure how Kalinga and Hiraya woyld react towards little Awit. Hopefully they become best of friends.
These little kitties might be too much to handle. They demand a lot of feeding as if you don't feed them enough. They want a lot of space, they're not the huggy kissy type. But once they give you that slow blink, once they make those biscuits on your tummy, it shows how much they trust you. They do make you feel like they're the boss, but still they are the most lovable and adorable little bosses.
Happy International Cats' day to all you little bosses. Keep making those biscuits. And yeah, just be you. We adore you all.
