Today is the day that one of our newly officially adopted cats, Magellan, is finally neutered. If you haven't met him, Magellan is one of the kittens that I rescued last September. There were 4 of them, 2 found their furever homes in October and November, and the remaining 2 stayed with us. I saw Magellan wandering in the streets one morning, he was meowing and really calling my attention and when I gave in to his calls, he then showed me that he has 3 other siblings inside the box beside the dump. Budulero nga!
Magellan is a sweet sweet boy, I kind of got attached to him already so giving him away really is out of the question. Of course, he's my baby, I'm going to make sure he's going to be healthy and happy. I've been following Doc Gab Veterinarian on Facebook and he has a monthly low cost spay/neuter event. For the month of February they had an event again. Even though it was a bit far from our place, I had to do it because Sungit and Magellan are both starting to be a bit too cozy with each other. I'm starting to worry that they'll start to multiply if I don't do anything.
I prioritized having Magellan fixed first because he's the male and he's the one that met the weight requirement. The event was at 8AM so getting there was a bit of a challenge. I originally planned to take the jeep but since it was the rush hour, so I had to book a Grab car. There weren't a lot of patients yet so it's a good thing. We're the 20th in line.
There are some preparations that need to be done before the procedure. The pet need to be fasted for 12 hours. It was really hard because I could hear Magellan crying from his cage, wanting to be let out because I know he was hungry. He's hungry every hour or 2. I can see in his eyes how much he's not a fan of his situation this morning.
But I was so glad to see how he reacted when we were at the venue. He was just quiet. I can say he was scared. But it might also be because he was getting weak because of hunger. When the nurses picked him up, he just looked at them (with that scary side eye he does when he's not too happy) but he was just quiet overall.
As I was waiting for Magellan's procedure to finish, the socmed manager of Doc Gab Veterinarian approached me to inform me that Magellan qualified for their February promo. They have this promo where they are encouraging people to donate to sponsor the neuter/spay of a rescue and they get to have that rescue named after their ex. It was funny because Doc Gab makes a post with the pet's balls and names it to the sponsor's ex. The cat in the middle of this reel is my Magellan.
I have already paid for the full amount of the procedure plus the ARV when I found out that Magellan qualified for the sponsorship So they promised to refund me the amount donated. I'm still waiting but I plan on paying it forward and will also donate for the same promo. The only trouble is my ex and I are in good terms, so maybe I'll just name it after my crush from highschool who gave me my first heartbreak.
Right now, Magellan is showing he's recovering fine. He looks funny because he's still obviously groggy because of the anesthesia but he's fine. The other 3 cats won't leave him alone so I had to cover a huge part of his cage so that they won't tinker with his egglessness. I'm sure by 3 or 4 days, he'll be back to his normal self. And he will be his adorable eggless wonder.
