Blessed day, I hope you are well with your pets, in this publication I want to tell you about my canine son Duke, a few days ago I told you that I was worried about his eyes, because he had an excess of tears and also the sclera was red, which is the white part of the eye.
As he likes to roll in the dirt and get totally white from the dust, I have to be washing his face to clean his eyes, at first I thought that the dust could be the cause of his tears, but I preferred to take him to the vet to find out for sure, with the collaboration of my brother we assumed the expenses between the two of us, thank God because I was very worried.

Bendecido día, espero que se encuentren bien junto a sus mascotas, en esta publicación quiero contarles sobre mi hijo canino Duke, hace unos días les dije que estaba preocupada por sus ojos, ya que presentaba un exceso de lágrimas y también la esclerótica la tenía roja, qué es la parte blanca del ojo.
Como a él le gusta revolcarse en la tierra y ponerse totalmente blanco del polvo, tengo que estar lavándole la cara para limpiar sus ojos, al principio pensé que el polvo podría ser esta la causa de sus lágrimas, pero preferí llevarlo al veterinario para salir de dudas, con la colaboración de mi hermano asumimos los gastos entre los dos, gracias a Dios porque estaba muy preocupada.
When we arrived at the veterinarian we were patient number 4 and Duke became very nervous, he started to tremble and wanted to be carried and to be on top of me, he knows that this is where they do things that he does not like such as taking his temperature, injecting him and mounting him on a table, they also take his blood for a complete hematology and to check his values. This time they did an additional test which was to measure his eye pressure because the vet noticed something abnormal in his eyes.
It was very funny that experience because I had never seen how they check the eyes of a dog, first they applied some drops in his eyes, I guess to dilate the pupil I am not sure, after turning off all the lights with a device that has a lamp they check his eyes while I grabbed him tightly, The doctor verified that the cornea and the eye in general were ok, this exam is the same as the one they do to humans, the only thing missing was to ask Duke the letters 😆, but he was going to fail because he doesn't go to school and he doesn't know how to read.
Al llegar a la veterinaria fuimos el paciente número 4 y Duke se ponen muy nervioso, comienza a temblar además de querer qué lo cargué y de estar encima de mí, él sabe que aquí es donde le hacen cosas que no le gustan como tomarle la temperatura, inyectarlo y montarlo sobre una mesa, también le sacan la sangre para la hematología completa y revisar bien sus valores. Esta vez le hicieron un examen adicional qué fue medirle la presión ocular porque la veterinaria observó algo anormal en sus ojos.
Fue muy chistosa esa experiencia porque nunca había visto como le revisan los ojos a un perro, primero le aplicaron unas gotas en sus ojos, supongo que para dilatar la pupila no estoy segura, luego de apagar todas las luces con un aparato qué tiene una lámpara le revisan los ojos mientras yo lo agarraba con fuerza, la doctora verificó qué la córnea y el ojo en general estuvieran bien, ese examen es igual al que le hacen a los humanos solo falto qué le preguntaran las letras a Duke 😆, pero iba a salir reprobado porque él no va a la escuela y no sabe leer.

So far the exam was going well, but at first glance he had a problem in his eyes because the gland of the third eyelid was inflamed and prolapsed 😱😭, which is a fleshiness, what dogs have in their eyes and Duke had it almost to the middle of the eye like a curtain besides the excess of moisture, the next step was to place an adhesive tape under his eye to measure the amount of tears per minute and indeed it was very high, in the pictures you can see how his eyes are bright with lots of tears. This exam was an additional cost of the normal consultation and lab, at that point I was so nervous and full of anguish for what they would tell me about Duke's health and the costs of everything, my brother helps me, but in Venezuela taking care of our pets is a luxury unfortunately, I even had to have some money for my own health checkups for taking Duke, but this way I will feel better and more calm seeing that he is fine.
The last exam they did was more uncomfortable to measure his eye pressure with a device that touches his eye, for that he had to be very relaxed and still, he was already upset and I had to put a muzzle and practically lay on him to hold him and prevent him from moving, it was a struggle, since he is a medium dog and has strength and I am small, but I managed to do the test and confirm that he had high eye pressure, this is dangerous for the eye of any living being, human or animal.
Hasta aquí el examen iba bien, pero a simple vista él tenía un problema en los ojos porque la glándula del tercer párpado estaba inflamada y prolapsada 😱😭, qué es una carnosidad, qué tienen los perros en los ojos y Duke la tenía casi hasta la mitad del ojo como una cortina además del exceso de humedad, el paso siguiente fue colocarle una cinta adhesiva por debajo del ojo para medir la cantidad de lágrimas por minuto y efectivamente era muy alta, en las fotos puedes ver como tiene los ojos brillantes con muchas lágrimas. Este examen fue un costo adicional de la consulta normal y del laboratorio, en ese punto yo estaba tan nerviosa y llena de angustia por lo que me dijeran de la salud de Duke y los costos de todo, mi hermano me ayuda, pero en Venezuela atender a nuestras mascotas es un lujo lamentablemente, incluso tuve que disponer de un dinero para mis propios chequeos de salud por llevar a Duke, pero así me sentiré mejor y más tranquila viendo que él está bien.
El último examen que le hicieron fue más incómodo medir su presión ocular con un aparato qué le toca el ojo, para eso él tenía que estar muy relajado y quieto, ya estaba molesto y me toco ponerle bozal y acostarme prácticamente sobre él para sostenerlo y evitar que se moviera, fue una lucha, ya que él es un perro mediano y tiene fuerza y yo soy pequeña, pero se logró hacer el examen y confirmar que tenía la presión ocular alta esto es peligroso para el ojo de cualquier ser vivo, humano o animal.
I could not believe what the veterinarian told me because I also suffer from this disease, I have Glaucoma and I depend on drops to control the disease which are expensive, it is incredible how animals accompany us even in the disease. We left the office with the receipt of the medicines that I had to buy which were some drops for the ocular tension and also the medicines to deworm him both internally and externally, besides we must return in a week to evaluate the progress of his eyes and to see the result of the complete hematology.
I hope that the treatment will help him and that he will not have to use it all his life, I was a little sad that day because of this news, but at the same time I was calm because I took Duke to the doctor, I bought his medicines and my pocket is empty, but my heart is calm, soon I will tell you about his evolution, thank you very much for your time and support.
Yo no podía creer lo que me dijo la veterinaria porque también sufro de esta enfermedad, tengo Glaucoma y dependo de unas gotas para controlar la enfermedad que son costosas, es increíble como los animales nos acompañan hasta en la enfermedad. Salimos del consultorio con el récipe de las medicinas que tenía que comprar qué eran unas gotas para la tensión ocular y también las medicinas para desparasitarlo tanto interna como externamente, además debemos regresar en una semana para evaluar el progreso de sus ojos y ver el resultado de la hematología completa.
Espero que el tratamiento le preste y no tenga que usarlo toda su vida, salí algo triste ese día por esa noticia, pero a la vez tranquila de haber llevado a Duke al médico, le compre sus medicinas quedando con el bolsillo vacío, pero el corazón tranquilo, pronto les diré sobre su evolución, muchas gracias por tu tiempo y apoyo.
