Lamentablemente el organismo de Apolo no reacciono bien a este primer tratamiento, es como si los medicamentos apenas hubieran contenido la infección porque durante la siguiente semana siguió inflamándose y los tejidos no parecían mejorar, produciendo más secreción y necesitando mas más de 3 drenajes al día.

Unfortunately Apollo's organism did not react well to this first treatment, it is as if the medicines had barely contained the infection because during the following week it continued to swell and the tissues did not seem to improve, producing more secretion and needing more than 3 drains a day.

Como puede verse en las fotos, superficialmente sanó bastante rapido e incluso creció bastante cabello, pero para el día 12 o 14 de esa visita al doctor su pata estaba de nuevo muy inflamada y tenia fiebre. Ese día estuvo todo el día durmiendo acompañado de los otros gatitos en casa o sobre la mesa de planchar que coloque en el cuarto de costura provisionalmente. Estaba muy angustiada porque era obvio que Apolo sentía incomodidad y malestar, pero ya la lesión había cerrado y no tenia forma de drenar su pata como antes.

As you can see in the pictures, superficially he healed quite fast and even grew a lot of hair, but by day 12 or 14 of that visit to the doctor his paw was again very swollen and he had a fever. That day he was sleeping all day with the other kittens at home or on the ironing table that I put in the sewing room temporarily. I was very anxious because it was obvious that Apollo felt pain and discomfort, but the lesion had closed and he had no way to drain his paw as before.

Por la misma inflamación, y también porque Apolo se comenzó a lamer durante la noche mientras no lo vigilaba, la lesión se abrió de nuevo y esta vez se veía peor (lo censuro porque la lesión es muy grafica). No entendía por qué el antibiótico no estaba haciendo efecto, habíamos sido muy obedientes con todas las indicaciones del doctor y el horario de las tomas de los medicamentos.

Because of the same inflammation, and also because Apolo started licking himself during the night while I was not watching him, the lesion opened up again and this time looked worse (I censure him because the lesion is very graphic). I did not understand why the antibiotic was not working, we had been very compliant with all the doctor's instructions and medication schedule.

Gracias a la ayuda de dos amigos muy queridos, pude contactar con una segunda opinión antes que el día terminara, una amiga veterinaria a distancia que nos explicó muchísimas cosas: Las curas de su pata no debían llevar vendaje porque la herida necesitaba respirar para secarse, no contener humedad. El laboratorio que fabrica el antibiótico que le estaba administrando parece que tiene historia de hacer medicamentos con componentes poco efectivos (no se si por el tipo o por la concentración), y la crema que debía aplicar debía ser antibiótica, no cicatrizante, y debía aplicarla en muy poca cantidad...

Thanks to the help of two very dear friends, I was able to contact a second opinion before the day was over, a long distance veterinarian friend who explained a lot of things to us: The cures on her paw should not have a bandage because the wound needed to breathe to dry, not contain humidity. The laboratory that manufactures the antibiotic I was administering seems to have a history of making medicines with ineffective components (I don't know if it was because of the type or the concentration), and the cream I had to apply should be antibiotic, not healing, and I should apply it in very little quantity...

Estoy profundamente agradecida por toda su ayuda, porque Apolo sí mostro mejoría y una recuperación milagrosa antes de los 3 días con el nuevo tratamiento que ella le indicó, sin embargo, me siento bastante mal por Apolo, por haberlo hecho pasar tantos días de incomodidad y no haberme dado cuenta al segundo día que el primer tratamiento no estaba haciendo lo que corresponde.

I am deeply grateful for all her help, because Apolo did show improvement and a miraculous recovery within 3 days with the new treatment she prescribed, however, I feel quite bad for Apolo, for putting him through so many days of discomfort and not realizing on the second day that the first treatment was not doing what it was supposed to do.

Aquí te darás cuenta que hay un vacío en la historia, y comparto que sí me comuniqué con el doctor de la clínica donde llevamos primero a Apolo para comentarle todo lo que estaba ocurriendo con Apolito. El doctor le receto a distancia un nuevo tratamiento y nos dijo que fuéramos de nuevo a consulta en 3 días, pero los mensajes llegaron algo tarde por la noche y yo estaba muy angustiada por el estado de Apolo, por eso seguí las instrucciones de la doctora a distancia, que respondió súper rápido y me dio todas las indicaciones y dosis con detalle. También por motivos de trabajo me era imposible llevarlo a consulta entre semana.

Here you will notice that there is a gap in the story, and I share that I did communicate with the doctor at the clinic where we first took Apolo to tell him everything that was happening with Apolito. The doctor remotely prescribed a new treatment and told us to go back to the clinic in 3 days, but the messages arrived late at night and I was very anxious about Apolo's condition, so I followed the instructions of the doctor remotely, who responded super fast and gave me all the indications and doses in detail. Also for work reasons it was impossible for me to take him to the doctor's office during the week.

Esto que relato ocurrió todo entre Mayo y Junio, el desenlace fue que Apolo cumplió exitosamente su segundo tratamiento y su patita volvió a la normalidad, perfecta como siempre sin inflamación ni nada extraño. Una patita saludable. Incluso el nuevo medicamento lo tomaba sin problema porque tenia un sabor agradable, no amargo.

The outcome was that Apolo successfully completed his second treatment and his paw was back to normal, perfect as always with no inflammation or anything strange. A healthy paw. He even took the new medicine without any problem because it had a pleasant taste, not bitter.

Ahora, hoy a más de 1 mes de todo ese episodio de gasas, antiséptico, limpiezas, guantes y medicamentos que crei había sido superado, la patita de Apolo vuelve a inflamarse de la nada, en el mismo lugar, una inflamación grande y extraña, no en el musculo, sino entre la piel y el musculo, como un globo de agua y dentro no hay secreción purulenta, hay solo sangre. Un globito de sangre que ya hemos drenado dos veces...

Now, today, more than 1 month after all that episode of gauze, antiseptic, cleanings, gloves and medicines that I thought had been overcome, Apollo's paw is swollen again out of nowhere, in the same place, a big and strange inflammation, not in the muscle, but between the skin and the muscle, like a water balloon and inside there is no purulent secretion, there is only blood. A little blood balloon that we have already drained twice...
