You know what? A few months ago, my Oddie, the youngest dog I've had since he was a puppy, became the smallest dog I've ever cared for, weighing 8 kilos. Because of this, I've always bathed him and given him his regular cleanings. But now he turns into a little devil every time I try to bathe him. Don't ask me why, because I don't know either. The vet told me that some dogs have these sudden changes in behavior, and it's true. He's not the little angel he was just a month old anymore; now he's a Tasmanian devil.

I know one should hire a bath trainer, but I don't have the money for that. I have sought some advice, but the child already knows all the tricks to get him bathed. However, it was mission impossible last weekend; I only managed to bathe my daughter, who is a real angel, even though she's quite grown up. So, obviously, he couldn't stay dirty. The darn thing climbs on my bed, so I asked the doctor if I could use a dry bath product on him, since he has sensitive skin. He said yes, while he's getting used to water again, but it has to be a powder.

I really don't want him to just use a dry bath. If he needs a proper bath, I hope I can control that beast and make him understand that I'm the boss, that he has to respect me. Besides, I bought him a super expensive shampoo, more expensive than the cheap ones I use, and the darn thing still won't even try to bathe him. You can see my frustration; that damn shampoo cost me $16. Now, it was quite an ordeal to find that powder dry bath, because most of it was foam. I finally found two places: one that was pretty far away, where the 90g tub cost $7, and another relatively close one that cost $14, but I didn't know the size. From the picture, I thought it was big, so I went to the second one first, where I thought the tub was like 200g, but no, it was 100g.

I was about to give up, asking the doctor if I could use the foam one. I wasn't thinking it would be forever anyway; I had to find a way to cope. However, the place where I bought the $7 one had free delivery on orders over $10, so I took advantage and bought them two wet snacks each, which cost $1.50 per package. Oddie loved them, and Angela, the little black one, was so-so; she prefers chicken or a big steak.

Now, you're probably wondering if he let me use the dry shampoo on him. Well, to my surprise, he did! He behaved wonderfully and didn't complain at all. I did have to humiliate myself and flatter him to make him think it was fun and all that. And I don't know if it's because he knew I was recording him to show the vet. These products are really easy to use. I just have to put some in my hand, rub it in a little so it doesn't spread and get powder in our noses, apply it against the grain of his fur so it gets on his skin a little, wait a while, and then brush him to remove any excess.

In my case, I used very little, as per the doctor's instructions. It did eliminate odor and a little dirt, and he even looked whiter. But the little guy had the mischievous habit of getting all sticky, and now I have to keep washing him. So wish me luck this weekend. I'll see if he'll let me use damp cloths, because I don't know if it's the water, the shampoo, or what. It's not the touching; he let me use it on him, even with the dust. Although it did make his fur a little frizzy, he let me use it, which is the important thing.

Regarding the use of these products, well, it's nothing better than a proper bath, but in my case, it's a way to maintain his hygiene and prevent problems from getting worse. And if you can't take him to the groomer all the time or can't bathe him right away, it's an option that can help. I don't take him to a groomer because I'm afraid of how he'll behave. Ultimately, I'd like to tell the doctor's son that he lets them both do it. I don't know if it's out of fear or respect, since he's known them since he was little and knows they're the ones who give him injections. I'd like to know what you all think about this behavior? What should I do to calm him down?

¿Saben? Hace unos meses para acá, mi Oddie, el más joven y que he tenido desde bebecito, es el perro más pequeño de edad que he tenido a mi cuidado en mi vida, pesando 8 Kilos, por ende, siempre lo he bañado y le he dado sus respectivas limpiezas, pues ahora se pone como un demonio cada vez que busco bañarlo. No me pregunten porque, ya que ni yo sé, el doctor me dijo que algunos perros tienen esos cambios en el comportamiento tan brusco y de verdad que sí, ya no es el chiquito ángel de solo 1 mes de vida, ahora es un demonio de Tasmania.

Sé que uno debe contratar un entrenador, pero no tengo el capital para eso, si me he asesorado en algo, pero el niño ya conoce todos los trucos para lograr bañarlo, no obstante, ha sido misión imposible el fin de semana pasado, solo pude bañar a la negrita, que esa si es una santa y eso que llego bastante adulta. Así que, obviamente no podía quedar sucio, el condenado se monta en mi cama, por lo que, consulté al doctor si podía usar en él un producto de baño en seco, ya que por el tema de que es piel sensible y eso, en lo que me afirma que sí, mientras se va volviendo adaptar al agua, lo que sí, es que este fuese en polvo.

Realmente no quiero que solo se bañe en seco, pues si necesita su baño profundo, espero lograr controlar esa fiera y darle a entender que yo soy la dueña, que él debe respetarme, aunado que, le compre un champú super caro, más caro que los que uso de los chinos y el condenado no se atreva a bañarse, ven mi frustración, ese pinche champú me costó 16$$$. Ahora bien, fue una travesía conseguir ese baño en seco en polvo, porque en su mayoría pues era de espuma, hasta que di en dos lugares, uno que quedaba bastante lejos, donde costaba el de 90 gr en 7$ y otro relativamente cerca, que costaba 14$, pero no sabía el tamaño, por la imagen pensé que era grande, fui primero a este, en donde pensé que la presentación era como de 200gr, pero no, era de 100 gr.

Estaba por rendirme, preguntándole al doctor si el de espuma podía usarlo, igual tampoco en mis pensamientos es que sea para siempre, debo encontrar la manera de sobrellevarlo. No obstante, el lugar donde estaba el de 7$ tenían delivery gratis a partir de 10$ y bueno, aproveché y le compré dos snacks húmedos a cada uno, que tenían un costo de 1.5$ cada empaque. A Oddie le encantó, a Angela, la negrita, más o menos, ella prefiere un pollo o un bistec grande.

Ahora bien, seguro se preguntará si se dejó poner el baño seco, pues para mi sorpresa si, se portó de maravilla y no dio quejas, si tuve que humillarme y adularlo para que pensara que es diversión y eso, bueno y que no sé si es porque sabía que lo estaba grabando para mostrarle al doctor. La verdad es de fácil manejo estos productos, solo debo echarlo en mi mano, restregarlo un poco para que no se esparza y el polvo entre en nuestras narices, ponérselo en contra pelaje, para que, entre un poco a la piel, esperar un rato y luego, con un cepillo, peinarlo para quitar excedentes.

En mi caso, usé muy poco, por indicaciones del doctor, si eliminó olor y un poco de suciedad, hasta se vio más blanquito pero el muchachito hizo la gracia de llenarse con algo pegas toso y si tengo que pasarle agua, así que deséenme suerte este fin de semana, veré si con trapos humedeciéndolos se deja, porque no sé si es con el agua, con el champú o que rayos, pues el tocarlo no es, se dejó con el polvo, aunque si le encrespó un poco los pelitos, se dejó que es lo importante.

En cuanto al uso estos productos, pues no es nada mejor que bañarlos propiamente, pero en mi caso es una manera de mantener su higiene intacta y no pase a mayores y bueno, si no puedes llevarlo a la peluquería a cada rato o no puedes bañarlo en un momento, es una opción que te puede ayudar. Y no lo llevo a una peluquería, porque mi miedo es como se comporte, aunque en última instancia es decirle al hijo del doctor, que él se deja de ellos dos, no sé si por miedo o respeto, ya que los conoce desde pequeño y saben que son los que los inyecta, quisiera saber ¿qué opinan de ustedes sobre este comportamiento? ¿qué debería hacer para apaciguarlo?
