Introduction
I regularly publish updates on my play-to-earn earnings to show others which games might be profitable for them.
As you will see below, my earnings from Sorare and Gods Unchained have been substantially lower than in the month before. This is mainly due to two reasons:
Most football leagues had some sort of winter break, eliminating my earnings from Sorare. You can read here, why I´m still very happy with Sorare in the current situation.
Since the whole crypto market has taken a nosedive, so have play-to-earn coins like GODS. I am reporting on my earnings based on today's prices and these are dramatically lower than a month ago.
Gods Unchained ($284,28)
Gods Unchained is a free-to-play tactical card game that gives players true ownership of their in-game items. Led by the former game director of Magic The Gathering: Arena, the game focuses on competitive play, which means players must strategically outsmart their opponents by building decks that are able to combat a wide variety of tactics. In Gods Unchained players completely own their digital items, giving them the freedom to trade, sell and use their cards any way they like — just like owning real, tangible cards.
Gods Unchained is one of my favorite blockchain-based games and does not require any upfront investment.
I have played (and enjoyed) Gods Unchained before there was a real play-to-earn mechanism and I can recommend it to anyone interested in trading cards.
The way you can earn directly from playing Gods Unchained is by receiving GODS tokens for playing at least 20 matches in a week.
The most I have earned from this in a week was 16.73 GODS which, at the time, were worth about 92$. Recently, with more players joining, the earnings potential of this has gone down quite a bit, though, as you can see below.
Sorare ($0)
Sorare is a fantasy game of soccer, where players buy, sell, trade, and manage a virtual team with digital player cards. The game uses blockchain technology based on Ethereum and was developed in 2018 by Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort.
Sorare is one of the games I spend most time on; I´d say only Gods Unchained comes close.
I have not earned anything from playing Sorare in the past month; mostly because of the winter break in many leagues.
This does not mean, however, that Sorare has not generated any value for me over that time! The value of my gallery has increased by almost 0.5 ETH / 1250$ over this time, nicely offsetting part of the value my crypto portfolio has lost during the recent selloff.
You can find more information on Sorare as an ETH hedge in this article.
Doctor Who: Worlds Apart ($40,10)
Doctor Who: Worlds Apart is a free-to-play tactical card game that gives you true ownership of your NFT cards, allowing them to be traded with other players online.
Another card game but, unlike Gods Unchained, Doctor Who: Worlds Apart has not launched, yet. Early access for holders of their founder tokens has already launched, though, so the finished game can´t be that far away.
Also, Worlds Apart is directly licensed by the BBC so I´d suppose there is very little risk in getting involved here.
Since the game has not been launched, yet, there are no play-to-earn mechanisms either. However, you can still earn from Worlds Apart.
For each daily signup, you receive 10 “Pandaks” which are the equivalent of 10 $-cents. In addition to this, I have received a number of additional allotments which, I assume, are for having bought card packs and holding them.
I can´t say anything about the gameplay, yet, but if you are into trading card games, Worlds Apart might be a chance to get involved in a game by a major brand early on.
Footium ($483,67)
Footium is a play-to-earn online football management game. Your club is an NFT and it allows you to become the owner of a metaverse Football Club, rise up the divisions and win prizes.
Footium is currently in its closed beta and will be open to all club owners soon. Since all clubs sold out rapidly in the initial sale, you need to purchase a club on the secondary market if you want to be part of the inaugural season.
The first batch of clubs all play in the Ethereum league system (running on a layer 2 to minimize gas fees) but additional league systems on other chains are in the works.
I have spent countless hours playing Football Manager in my youth so I was absolutely thrilled when I first heard about Footium and decided to purchase two clubs for 0.05 ETH each in the initial sale.
Over the past weeks, the value of Footium clubs has risen dramatically and I could not resist selling one of my clubs in order to focus on my main club.
If, like me, you spend more time on building your teams in FIFA than actually playing matches, I encourage you to think about purchasing a club to compete in Footiums inaugural season! I haven´t seen the gameplay, yet, but I expect big things from it.
