So friends, the question is, should we inculcate only commitment in our lives?
Commit then eliminate, first commit then start eliminating.
Tendai Monks, once they accept the challenge, turn their whole life in one direction for the next 7 years. Now nothing matters except fulfilling the promise. You set a goal and for that goal start removing all unnecessary things from your life and routine. Keep the things that take you forward, help you, calm your mind. Start eliminating everything else. This will repeatedly send a message to your subconscious mind that this goal is important in my life, and not all these things at all. If you do not do this then you will always be distracted.

If You Commit to Doing Nothing, You Get Distracted by Everything. In Gita Chapter no. 2 verse no. in 41, Shri Krishna explains this very deeply. They say that due to having a resolution, that is commitment, a person's intellect remains in one direction. And the intellect of a person without determination gets divided into many branches. Here intelligence is very important because intelligence decides the direction of the mind. That's why the intellect is considered superior to the mind. The person who has decided with his intellect i.e. with understanding that only one aim is necessary for me. Then the mind goes only in that direction only after that one goal.
The one who does not have commitment for one goal, his intelligence is divided in many directions. He feels that I need fun and joy from many things. That's why his mind never remains calm. Even if he tries to sit quietly, the mind continuously runs in many directions. Because he wants to get pleasure by connecting with many things. Such a mind wanders from one place to another, it loses its peace and power.
