Namaste, Wonderful people. It's a great opportunity to participate in this weekly contest. This topic is an essential point to talk about.
If you have ever visited Lagos State, Nigeria, during the November and December, you will understand all I'm about to write, I'm not sure of any city that experiences heat the way it happens in Lagos State.
Last year November to March this 2025 was the worst, infact as am writing am already reflecting on how life is going to be with us then, everywhere will be so hot, during the day the sun will be so hot and the walls of my house will get so heated, then by 8:pm the room itself will be as hot as an oven and at that point is so unbearable.
My house has two windows, but it will be as if there are no windows in the house, and I will just be struggling to breathe.
One good thing that helps me is that my room has tiles so I mop and clean it every evening with clean water, then I will make sure i don't open the door net once is 4:pm to avoid mosquitos from coming in, then immediately its 5:pm I will lock my door and will not open it for any reason again.
By 8:pm I will have a cold bath and avoid all sorts of cream both face and body, then I will apply white powder on the cleaned tiles to help it retain a little coolness.
By 2:pm I will be soaked with heat and I will go ahead and have another cold bath and apply more white powder and that will take me till the next morning.
I make sure I take lots of water during the day and I try hard to avoid eating hot food that will make me to feel heat, I always go out with my umbrella to make sure the sun doesn't hit on me directly.
Some days when its so unbearable, I will have to sit outside for some hours so get some fresh air before I go to bed.
Heat season is not easy at all but the little tips help me to cope till that season passes by and we have a cold weather as we have now.
