Greetings my dear people of the #indiaunited community.
I feel delighted to share my entry for the #iucontest week #7, with the theme, "Acts of Kindness".
Sometimes I used to wonder how this world would have been if no one was ever kind to another. I often tell myself that it would be a miserable one, a regretful one. Empathy and kindness work in the same hands. Before I would move on, I would love to make a point about, the difference between empathy and sympathy. Empathy is more like putting oneself in another's condition when showing kindness while sympathy is feeling pity for someone due to his situation.
Empathy is the mother of kindness. I have had lots of cases where I offered help to the young, my age mate and the old.
Let's get straight to those great and unforgettable times of all kinds.
TO THE YOUNG
It was very sunny that day while I was taking a short walk back from the market. I decided to save my transportation money since I had a plan to purchase a Nike shoe. But while I was passing the hot sandy street, I saw two young boys trying to push their wheelbarrow loaded with kegs of water. When I arrived where they were standing, I overheard them saying, "I'm tired of pushing, at last, there is no hope of food in the house till night". I had empathy for them. Since I was holding my bags from the market, I couldn't help them push the wheelbarrow but I thought of another way to show them some form of kindness. I had to sacrifice my transportation money which I planned to save. I had to let it out, I gave it to them to purchase some noodles and enjoy. When I gave them this money, it seemed I gave them real food as they got a boost from nowhere and started to push the wheelbarrow with smiles on their faces.
TO MY MATE
One of the things my mates and I often suffer in school is the case of dead phones. When we are free in school, we often engage in playing some games and this would only result in temporary joy and consequently result also in a low battery. When this happens, we then begin to search for places to charge our phones. One of the days we were stranded, we walked around the normal charging spots but there was no space as others like us who already plugged in their phones and gadgets. That day, we were lucky to find space in one of the leisure rooms. Three of my friends plugged their phones and one charging socket was left. I was the first to find the free socket but I had to sacrifice the space for my friend who had a battery percent of just five while mine was twenty-five. I also helped him fix his charger which was having faults. I tore a page of my notes and helped him fix it. He could have used my phone charger but the his phone wasn't compatible with my charger.
TO THE OLD
I remember one of the days while we were waiting for our lecturer to arrive, we were just doing a little work around the field when a man probably the age of my father walked up to me and asked me for help. "My son, please can you help me call someone, my phone is down?" The man asked me in a very curious tone. "Sure sir", I replied. He called the mobile number for me while I helped him dial it. He was able to make the call with my phone and when he finished he told me he was communicating with his daughter who just arrived at the airport. But do you know what? This man was the lecturer we were waiting for. When he finally got into the hall, he called in everyone and announced that the class had been postponed. Due to my act of kindness to this man, he doesn't joke with me in class, he often makes sure I understand everything he teaches in class, he also gave me his number to call him anytime I need more explanation. I often chat with him and he responds friendly. Since that day, I understood the need to be kind to others because it's reciprocal.
This is my entry for the #iucontest WK #7 which is initiated by the #indiaunited community.
