Good day Hivians. How have our day been! Mine has been going on well. It's another week and another opportunity to engage with the #iucontest of the #indiaunited community.
This week's prompt on the #iucontest is about our first phone. This will be a really funny one. Many of us know how we started when telling the story of our phones. Especially for those of us in Nigeria and economically low countries. The link to the contest is here
I have had several kinds of phones within this short time in my life. The factors which have contributed to this issue of having different kinds of phones in my life are financial and theft. Talking about financial factors, the inability to purchase brand new phones led to buying fairly used phones repeatedly. The other factor which is theft is a worrisome case in my country. The popularity of mobile phone usage has made criminal elements engage in stealing phones. I lost a phone to these unguided elements which pained me much. I had a phone I got through Easybuy. Easybuy is an intermediary company who helps people to buy phones on mortgage. I hadn't finished paying my mortgage on the phone when two boys (using a motorcycle) came around my shop and stole the phone.
My First Phone Was Motorola
My first phone was a Motorola brand. That was the first and only Motorola brand of phone I had. There are many different types of phones in circulation in our country. Motorola was the first phone to come into my possession.
The phone was given to me by my senior brother living in Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria. What a blessing that was to me. The phone was not a new phone. It was his old phone. But owning a phone then was a great blessing to me.
Leaving my base and migrating to the neighboring state of Kwara to find my footing became easy because there was that phone in my possession.
Having a phone is of great importance to someone like me who is a mother and a wife. Sometimes my husband would need to contact me. Such things become easy due to the availability of mobile phones.
My first phone usually sent me to the phone repairer’s shop because it was a Second-Hand phone. The battery and the keypads were not working properly. Imagine you trying to input 2 in the keypad and then 8 will appear 😂. Such was the kind of Motorola phone I had. But it was a blessing of the moment.
