As a newbie, Hive can be confusing from the beginning, more especially if it is someone who has not explored decentralised platforms. We are used to Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and other social media handles where we post content and get likes and comments from our followers, and they are already to spend the whole day scrolling endlessly, and they will achieve or gain anything in return. Over the years the people I have introduced into the decentralised platform I use have something simple; I didn’t start complicating things for them, knowing full well that there are newbies. I have a sister who can spend the whole day scrolling and watching other people's content. I was able to convince her to join the Hive blockchain just by telling her to imagine channelling the energy to the Hive blockchain, where she will be rewarded for her time and creativity, and the sweet part is she has full access to ownership.
After telling her that her curiosity sparks, to be honest, people spend hours on social media handles every day creating content, posting pictures, and sharing their opinions, and also engaging with others, and they put in effort to grow their page. I know of a friend that put both resources and time into creating content on TikTok, and at the end the owners of the platform are the ones earning from your effort while the users receive little or nothing. The Hive blockchain change is that here in Hive every voice matters; your story, your experience and your engagement with others have value.
I always tell people that I can't write about my journey in life without involving Hive. That is why I keep telling people that Hive is more than a blogging platform; it connects people from different parts of the world through shared interests. There are a lot of communities, which made it easy for people to connect. One sweet thing about Hive is there is always a place for everyone.
Here in Hive every user has control over their content. I have not seen any platform that is as transparent as Hive. The beauty of Hive is the sense of ownership it gives. I will tell them that one thing for sure: we need to be patient and consistent when it comes to Hive. Hive is not a place where money falls from the sky; rather, Hive is like a farm. When you plant your crops, you wait for the harvest time. Many people quit from the platform because they were not patient. The reward may not be as you expected, but with patience, consistency and connecting with people, you will grow.
I'll be sincere, it was the reward that made me join the platform. As times go on, my mindset changes. I realise now it's not all about the money but about connecting with people. Have been able to meet people who believe and support my idea and encourage me; I call them my backbone. Hive is just a home for me because I find genuine people who are ever ready to help me grow.
One thing about humans is you need to show them evidence before they will believe you. I will introduce them to some authors who have changed their lives. With that, they will be so eager to join.
Just like I don't compare myself with anyone here in the blockchain, I will advise them not to do so because we differ; what works for Mr A may not work for Mr B. The most important thing is finding your voice, connecting, and being creative.
I will gladly convenience anyone who comes around me to join the Hive blockchain; it will make them realise that Hive is more than a platform; it is an avenue to learn and connect with people.
