Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #indiaunited community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt. A tradition or ritual that means a lot to you?
Our tradition is part of the things that make us who we are. There are thousands of traditions and rituals that humans practice and that make us who we are, from our beliefs to our culture, and these traditions make us unique:
There is a tradition that has become a ritual in my family: the Christmas celebration, which happens every year, is a ritual that every member of the family is always present for, and we can’t miss it for anything because it unites us all together. You need to see how happy I always am whenever Christmas is approaching; this season brings happiness, unity and love.
You see, Christmas I can never miss it for anything. No matter how busy I may be at home, I make sure it does not prevent me from travelling back home. Like I said before, this is the only tradition that unites my family together after so many months of hustling in the city. We come back home to give ourselves a good treat and rest because I don’t want to miss out on my family tradition and ritual. That is why I always apply for my leave in the December period. For me it is a big tradition in my family because there is a lot to eat, a lot of places to go and a lot of gist from my family members. Most times when I travel back home for Christmas, I may end up going out once.
A breakdown of what my family tradition or ritual is like.
On the 24th of December: this is when my family tradition starts fully; it is always our family reunion. There is a lot to eat and be merry. It is during this reunion that each one of us tells the family members how the year has really been for them, and people who need help – that is also where funds are raised for the person. There is a lot of fun, and missing this tradition that happens once a year in my family is like missing out on a whole lot.
On the 25th of December, which is the main day of Christmas celebration, after church, the party continues. The amazing thing about this day is that it is full of fun. We go for a picnic. There are a lot of games to play, dancing and eating. We always have a good time. For someone like me who loves picnics so much, I always wish that night never comes any day we go for a picnic.
On the 26th of December: everyone in my community knows that this particular day is a day my family feeds the less privileged. We host and celebrate them. You make them smile so that they will not feel left out because they deserve to be loved and celebrated. This has been my family tradition for years now.
On the 27th-30th there is not much happening in the family; you can choose to visit far relatives. For someone like this, the 27th-30th is my rest period; I only go out in the evening to visit a few relatives.
On the 31st of December, we always fast and pray, and it is a must that every member participate. You thank God for a year well spent and pray over the next year to be better than the previous year.
On the 1st of January, we visit our grandparents and spend some quality time with them listening to their advice, and at the end, they always bless us.
This is my family tradition/ritual, and it means a lot to me. I will not lie; I can’t just wait for December to come. Writing this post, I just wish it were here already. I miss my family members, and I miss home; I can’t just wait.
This is my entry on the ongoing weekly prompts #indiaunited topic. A tradition or ritual that means a lot to you?
