Growing as child,i do alot of task involving sweeping, mopping, washing and etc. we lived 3-room bedroom flat, opposite our building we had a someone building a bungalow, whenever am free, i go there to help them.
One day, the owner of the house came there and sent me on an errand, when i was back, i handed the things i bought over to him and he gave me 100 naria cash.
Hundred back then can buy you a full plate of food.
I was very happy and excited the moment i got rewarded for the errand i was sent on.
I told my mother about it and for the first she said i should have the money all for myself.
I felt like on top of the world, i smiled to the extent i felt my that the ends of mouth was going to worn out.
From the money i took out 50 naria to give myself a nice treat, bought our local bean cake (moi-moi) and caprisome (fruit juice).
Then i had to save the remaining fifty naira.
It was actually the first time, i did something and i was paid, like i earned from it.
Other days someone would dash me money but my mother would take it away from me promising she would buy something for with the money.
But, this time she said i could i have the money all for myself and told because i can spend and save some.
For me, it was like i hustled for money because i believed if i had not gone the errand i wouldn't have gotten the money.
Surprisedly, being the person i was, i started going there, checking if luck would probably shine his teeth on me once more but sometimes i am lucky but sometimes i am not.
Now, taking a look, i discovered that the money i earned wasn't just about the money given or the amount of money that was given but seeing the value of hardwork, obedience.
Even till today, the first earning had somewhat sparked the habit of earning amd saving
