Hello everyone, welcome to my blog.
The contest for this week is “What are you doing to deal with the heat.” Heat period can be a challenging time for many of us. For me I don't really like the heat season because it is discomforting for me. During the heat period, I find it difficult to sleep except there is a cooling device around to help me cool down and the room as well. Another sad thing about heat is that heat rashes will begin to form everywhere on my body.
The scorching heat can lead to dehydration and heat exhaustion. However, there are some simple precautions and lifestyle adjustments that help me stay cool, comfortable and safe during the heat period or summer.
#1. Staying hydrated
During the heat season, I tend to drink plenty of water to help me stay hydrated. Water like we know is essential in the human body and it helps in the circulation of blood. By drinking plenty of water, it will help me sweat out the things that are not needed in the body. I also eat a lot of cooling fruits like watermelons, bananas, oranges and many more just to keep me cool.
#2 . Wearing light clothes
I wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics like cotton and linen that will make me feel free. I avoid dark colour clothes which absorb heat and I opt for light coloured clothing instead. I also wear a hat and sunglasses that will protect me from the harsh sun any time I'm going out.
#3. Using of cooling devices
I make use of the cooling devices like fans and air conditioners to keep the house cool. I also take a cool shower or bath to bring down my body temperature anytime I'm feeling hot.
I stay indoors during the peak hours, that's between 11am and 3pm when the sun is too hot except I have something important I need to attend to.
During the heat season I try as much as possible to avoid heavy meals that can increase body temperature and opt for light balanced meals instead. I make sure I stay away from hot and spicy foods that can raise body temperature.
With all these tips I have mentioned, I can deal with the heat without really feeling it .
Thank you all for reading.
