I was travelling over the weekend in my own vehicle, and it was a fun drive. It is mandatory to have fast tag in every vehicle nowadays in India because at toll plazas, they do not accept cash, and if some of them accept, then the person has to pay double the charge. Every car comes with a FASTag sticker at the time of delivery, so there is no need to worry in case of a new car.

But, there is a problem with the toll system because if everything works as expected, it's all good; however, when you come across any problem in terms of incorrect deduction, then it's a big problem. While travelling in a situation, I am charged twice. I got to know about this deduction when I moved away from Toll Plaza, and I couldn't go back from there since there was a distance of more than 10 kilometres. This is the first time I had a problem with myself, so I thought there should be some online option that I can avail later.
After coming back home, I tried to check if there are options that I could use to raise the dispute, but unfortunately, I could not find anything relevant. Then I did some research on the google and found that I can also raise a dispute through Whatsapp number of NHAI. NHAI is a government organisation that is calledthe National Highway Authority of India, and they have their WhatsApp number for many services, including complaints and disputes, in terms of incorrect charges.
I raised a complaint, and it's been a day, but I have not received any response on that, which is really not good. I see that there is a lot of technology development with tool collection, which is good, but why does the authority not focus with a similar intention on the resolution side? There can be situations where users are charged incorrectly, and in that case, ideally, there should be an automatic refund, but if not, then post-complaint, this must be resolved as a priority.
Now, I really don't know if I'll be getting that money back or not, because there is no clarity, and my concern has not even been acknowledged by the toll management authorities. I was at least expecting a response today since it's been one day. I hate this kind of experience where govt departments are trying all the ways possible to advance their technology in terms of collecting money, but they are least bothered about any complaints or disputes that are raised by the users. I hope not many people are raising the concerns, but whoever does must go through this bad experience, and I still hope that I get a resolution soon. Thank you!
