Hey Everyone 👋🏻
In India, a major part of the population belongs to the young generation. This youth population is the strength of the country and is often considered the pillar of the nation. Why? Because they give their strength, knowledge, and capabilities to the nation in ways that older generations may not always be able to.
Young people can boost the country’s economy with their ideas and businesses. They can serve in the armed forces and actively protect the country. They can become scientists researching for the welfare of the nation. They can be engineers taking the country to new heights, or doctors saving the lives of its citizens. In many ways, the energy and talent of young people play a huge role in the progress of a country, and India certainly has this advantage.
But one major thing that, in my opinion, is still missing is proper career guidance.
In a country with such a large population, not every family has the educational background to guide young people about their careers. Many parents want the best for their children, but they may not always know how to guide them properly. Because of this, it becomes important for young people to have someone who can guide them in the right direction. Without proper guidance, even sincere efforts can sometimes go to waste.
It may still take time for many people in India to fully understand the concept of choosing a career based on interest and ability. In many places, education is mainly about getting the top rank in exams. When it comes to careers, people usually think about high-paying jobs or government jobs as the best options.
Hobbies and passions are often not considered important career choices. But this is not really their fault. Many people simply do not get enough exposure to different opportunities.
Only a few people grow up with a clear goal and proper guidance. Many others simply follow what everyone else is doing because those paths seem to provide good income. Whenever someone chooses a career different from the traditional job path, they often have to struggle a lot. They struggle to convince their family, to find the right direction, to stay motivated, and sometimes even to ignore society’s opinions.
For many years, countless people may never have shown their true talent. Sometimes it was because their talent did not immediately earn money, and sometimes because they never got a platform to show it.
But nowadays, things are slowly changing. I see many people, even from remote areas, showing their hidden talents and turning them into successful careers.
For example, a girl who is good at ramp walking might start practicing on her terrace and eventually receive modeling opportunities. Someone who is good at designing dresses might get a chance to collaborate with celebrities. A child who sings well might get an opportunity to record a music album. A girl skilled in makeup might get a chance to work with beauty brands. A person good at art might be invited to create drawings or paintings for different events.
There are many such examples today, and this is what real talent looks like when it gets the opportunity to grow.
Not everyone needs to become a doctor, engineer, or scientist. What we really need is for people to be given the chance to explore what they are good at and develop their talent.
That is why I feel that one of the most important needs in India today is career guidance. Someone who can help identify a person’s actual talent and guide them to work in that direction, instead of choosing something completely different just because everyone else is doing it.
Even when it comes to jobs, many young people are confused about what they should choose. Today’s youth are exposed to many options, but at the same time they are also easily distracted. Many people try different things without continuing them for the long term. Whatever career is trending at the moment, many people simply start following it. There is often no clear goal or planning, just trial and error.
This is why career guidance is extremely important for students and young people. At such an age, making career decisions can be very confusing. Without proper guidance, many people later regret spending valuable time on the wrong path.
If young people receive the right guidance at the right time, they can make better decisions and build a more meaningful future for themselves and for the nation.
