Two years ago, 100,000 Hive Power would give $1+ on a post. People who had 100,000 Hive Power or more were seen as whales on the blockchain.
In the middle of last year (2025), you need to see how I was moving around seeking help from these people who had up to 100,000 HP to help support a community that I and others run. Even with the crypto dip, having 100,000 HP was still valuable because it could give up to $0.6 on a post when voted with 100%. But as it looks now, I doubt 100,000 HP would tip up to $0.5 when used at 100%.
But nevertheless, if I woke up one day and met 100,000 HP on my account, the first thing I would do is go and resurrect my community, which has been asleep for two weeks now. Although the vote won't be a big one since the dip has affected the earnings on posts, it will still be very encouraging and attract people to come by. You know, it's almost impossible to effectively run a community on this platform without a reasonable curator or a reasonable amount of HP. Unfortunately, the amount of HP that used to appear "big" back in the day is now rated as "small" due to the dip.
Personal curation: Apart from the community aspect, one of the things I would do, because I love it, is to vote on other articles as a way of supporting the authors. Even with my little current HP, I do this often, and I think it is required of everyone; otherwise, the HP in our wallet becomes a waste. Having 100,000 HP in my wallet will definitely get me to the whale level, as far as I am concerned, and my votes on articles will have weight. From the way I have been operating, I do not vote for people to make them come and vote for me too. I vote randomly and, most times, for newbies apart from the people I have on my fanbase list.
Shouldn't I farm curation rewards? Funny enough, we cannot hide the truth that everyone who curates does so with about 80% of their intention attached to the curation rewards that come with it. I will also curate with this mindset because there is nothing bad if I earn 50,000 HP as curation rewards with the 100,000 HP. Lol.
