It's over four years now since I joined hive an to be honest with you, I have very little knowledge of what I was doing back then. I love to write though and that was one of the main reasons why I joined. When I just joined the only thing I do is just to post here and there, go off and then come back again, I was just appearing and disappearing at will. Then at die point, I left. I didn't do anything again, no post, no engagement, nothing I left totally.
And when I returned less than a year ago or so I didn't really plan to, it just so happened that I went to stay with my brother in another state, he was the one who introduced and put me through hive from the onset. Well, he encouraged me to give it a shot again, I still write and he do see stuffs that I post on my WhatsApp and the likes, he advised that I take it seriously this time. He told me it's not to late to continue, he was even the one who still have my keys and password with him cause I no longer have anything about it again. So, I picked up my phone and began again, he put me through certain things again since I didn't remember some things any longer and give again had kind of improved and changed.
It wasn't easy back then when I returned, I saw various people who joined after I did and are doing greatly well, people who had just spent 2 to 3 years doing better, some haven't even spent more than a year, yet they are doing very good. I won't deny that it hurt a bit at first, but I let it go, that's comparism and it's obvious it wouldn't help me in anyway. And that was how I began to write on hive once again.
So, for new users I will say it is important to be very active. It's not important to post every single day, but you can comment, upvote, read people's work, support others and the likes. The more activity you do, the more visible you become and that leads you to grow over time.
Also, it is important to be very consistent, even when it doesn't seems like it, even when you feel you're not being seen or noticed, keep going. I'm still going as well. Just make sure to engage with others. First off, you need to know that hive is a community, and since you've joined or a part of the community it is important that you join conversations, reply to comments, engage with people and all, that way your presence is felt and you're seen.
In conclusion, it is very very important to focus on quality content. It is important that you be honest with yourself, it's ok to want to keep progressing but not that you will be comparing your journey with that of others. Add value in your own way, we are not same, meaning we all move at a different pace. So, be involved, don't stop learning and watch as you begin to grow. You will love it 😘.
