Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you're doing well. This topic is really interesting: leaving comfort behind leaving comfort behind . I've done this many times when I'm away from my family. And far from my relatives, why did I leave Bandung? Actually, leaving Bandung wasn't something I wanted.
After all, Bandung is the city I grew up in. It's very comfortable. From the air to the people. On the street, we can chat with people we don't know. They're very friendly and don't have any malicious motives. For example, fellow motorcyclists stop at a red light and greet each other. That's commonplace in Bandung.
The same goes for people asking for water because they're thirsty on the highway. That's very common. It's friendly and pleasant in Bandung. It's very comfortable, and I have many friends there. Until one day, I received an offer to go to Jakarta. But initially, I didn't have a job in Jakarta. This was a real gamble.
When I decided to come to Jakarta, that's where I decided to leave comfort behind. Living alone in Jakarta. I didn't have cooking skills, and my job wasn't working. Jakarta made me leave all my comforts behind. I left the conveniences of Bandung behind.
From there, I began to understand the meaning of surviving on my own. Without relying on anyone. This included entering a challenging phase of life this year. Having to stand on my own two feet. Some of my friends, unable to find work in Jakarta, decided to move to Bandung. I'm back in a very comfortable phase.
There's a joke often told about Jakarta migrants: Jakarta is crueler than a stepmother. Many people elbow each other in the workplace, not because of incompetence, but because of fear of losing access. This was my reflection some time ago. Leaving comfort is something worth trying, a battle with time and determination. Measuring one's own resilience.
I just want to be grateful that I've been through that phase. In the future, I can overcome other phases of progress and self-confidence. That's all I can share. What do you think? Have you ever done the same thing?
