To be honest, what really keeps me on Hive is not just one thing, it’s a mindset of oppurtunity. To put this into perspective I see Hive more as an investment both for short term and long term and that mindset alone changes how I experience or use the platform. I'm not just posting for today’s payout, I'm building something that i hopefully believe could actually grow over time if I play my cards well.
That 50/50 reward system is honestly one of the things that makes this easier to achieve, whoever came up with that, kudos to them. It forces a kind of discipline. Yes, im earning, but at the same time, I'm reinvesting without even thinking too hard about it. Over time, that steady accumulation of Hive Power can actually put me in a stronger position, especially if the price eventually picks up. Even though I didn’t join when the price was high, that might actually be an advantage, if it eventually goes up, hence the long term investment, im building during a quieter phase, which is usually where growth happens.
But then again their is the common popularity issue. Sometimes it really feels like Hive should be bigger than it is and it isnt, platforms like Hive suffer from a mix of poor onboarding, low mainstream awareness, and honestly, competition from already established social platforms. Not everyone has the patience to understand how Hive works, to be honest i still struggle with it sometimes ad I myself can sometimes take a long time to post, its like i go on a hiatus.
Now, I also want to just add on the freedom of expression… this one is tricky. On paper, Yes, Hive is very free, nobody is stopping you from saying your mind. All you have to do is type and send, but in practice, there’s a kind of “soft control” through rewards. People tend to write what they think will be appreciated by whales or big accounts because, at the end of the day, those are the people who can actually move your earnings. That’s why you see a lot of generic comments. It’s not that people don’t have original thoughts, it’s just that the reward structure subtly encourages safe, agreeable content.
That said, there are still pockets of authenticity on Hive. Some communities and users genuinely value originality and real conversations, but you have to look a bit deeper to find them. If you stay long enough and build your own circle, your experience becomes very different from what you see on the surface and of course i believe that hive rewards consistency. Hive rewards people who show up regularly, It might feel slow at first, even frustrating sometimes, but over time, the effort compounds. A lot of people quit before they reach that point.
So yeah, Hive isn’t perfect at all, it has its issues, but its till top notch.
