In the world we live in today, everyone, both young and old, is fixated on how to make money. Some people go through legal means while some do everything possible to ensure that their account balance is fat.
There is a huge market in the town where I work. Ariaria market. In that market there are many people that go there everyday to do different work just to make a living. Even kids go there to do some work.
Many rich people today have a success story to tell. Some of them started with nothing. They had nothing to lose but today, they have a lot. They have a lot of things to lose. Irrespective of their riches and wealth, they still hustle every day to make more money.
I have done a lot of things to get money. However, I try to avoid the temptations of doing illegal things for money. Yes, illegality brings quick funds, but then, I don't really fancy it. It's better to make legit money and have peace of mind than to indulge in illegal actions and not have peace of mind.
Throughout my lifetime, I have done different jobs to get money. Growing up as a kid, I always have the urge to do something for myself. I hate being a dependent, instead, I prefer for others to be directly or indirectly dependent on me.
Obviously, the first money I received was pocket money from my parents, but then, when the context is about wages, the first wages I received was when I was still a kid. I worked for a that paid me quite well as of that time.
During my kid days, I worked in different places. I worked in a bakery, I worked in a beer wholesallers shoe where I followed the owner for deliveries, I also worked in a burger store. Not like a Mac Donalds. In the burger store, I was incharge of the production and packaging.
As of then, in the burger store, I was laid a thousand five Hundred Naira per week, which is about five to ten thousand Naira in today's economy. As of then, it was actually a huge deal as a kid because I got to buy whatever I want. After school hours, I'll go to work. My mom didn't totally support me because I was still a student, but I found a way to convince her to allow me go for the job.
I can't remember how long I worked there cause' it's been many years ago. I had to quit the job because I was relocating back to the east. I was really annoyed when my mom announced that we were relocating, but then, I could not do anything. The relocating was due to the unpredictable boko haram attack in the north.
It was a really good time though, and I wish I continued with that job. However, I'm glad life turned out the way it did.
