Weekends are usually my favorite part of the week. After the hustle and bustle associated with Mondays and every other day of the week, I always look forward to these days dedicated to rest. However my excitement for weekends are mostly short lived, because in the blink of an eye, it’s Monday again.
If I could plan my weekends my way, the first thing I’d do is to extend the hours. This isn’t even because the hours aren’t enough for me to be productive. I’m saying this because the hours spent resting, always seem to come to an end too fast. They’re usually the shortest. So, if I could, I would add about six hours to my Sunday hours. These six hours would be dedicated to rest in anticipation of the coming week.
Fridays for me, don’t do it as weekends. The logic behind dedicating half the day to work, and calling it weekend, just doesn’t seem right to me. Weekends for me, are Saturdays and Sunday. A typical Saturday for me, is spent doing house cleanups, doing my laundry, restocking the house with groceries, and then resting. Then Sundays, when I’m home are spent mostly in church. Coming back from church, there’s the need to prepare for the seriousness associated with Mondays. From there, you’d find me preparing for the rest of the week. As quickly as it came, the weekend vanishes after doing all these. And you’re back to Mondays again.
Frankly, a perfect weekend for me would be spent rotting in bed, binge-watching my favourite shows. It would be hours spent, reading a book. A perfect weekend for me, should be filled with so much hours of rest and self-care. I would have so much time on my hands, to soak in warm baths, sleep probably and simply do everything relaxing. Exhaustion no longer feel so bad to my body these days. It almost seems like the new normal. A perfect weekend for me would be one filled with so much rest and hours of relaxations.
As a student, attending classes weekly could be draining, which is why I look forward to resting every opportunity I get. Stress shouldn’t always be the order of the day. This is why my perfect weekend would be organised to counter it. I would book massages, spend time relieving myself, without the weight of undone chores, or duties that are typical of me doing during the weekends.
I’m glad the #india-united community provided this prompt as it served an opportunity to share my opinions on a topic I’d been looking forward to - planning my perfect weekend. I do look forward to progressing from simply planning to actually experiencing one of my perfect weekends, filled with rest, self-care and relaxation. You can find more about the prompt here.
