I am not big on saving because I barely have enough to cater to my needs, so saving is not second nature to me as it should be. But I do have someone in my life who is big on saving money.
My friend will always find ways to save money, and it marvels me because I could never have thought of those ways. I admire her greatly as a result, and sometimes I wish I could do them myself.
You might wonder, how does she save money that makes me want to be like her?
She makes her own food
When you have a lot of posts to create like I do and you barely have time for yourself, the last thing that will come to mind is making food. But my friend does this effortlessly.
She doesn't waste time overthinking what she will eat. She even goes as far as making her own spices, tomato paste, blended veggies, etc.
She stores all of them in the fridge, and whenever she wants to cook, it is easier to scoop and use. Voila, food is ready.
She makes her own hair
I know there are hairstyles you cannot do by yourself, but wait until you meet her. She keeps her hands steady and uses the mirror to braid her hair herself. Her New Year hair was done by herself. It was a glow-up that I sat and watched in awe. She is still rocking the hair, and I admire it every time I look at it and remember she made it herself.
She paints her own nails
Nails, lashes, etc., she does them by herself. She has supplies at home. She said she bought them a long time ago and kept them. She could decide she wanted a completely different color, and she would have it done, now, now, now. Her lashes are not an exception: long, short, medium length, she has them. She swaps as she likes.
She stocks up on her skincare products
She is big on stocking. Instead of buying one by one and maybe running into an emergency situation where she doesn't have the money to buy her skincare products in the middle of the year, she saves money by buying in bulk, enough to last her the whole year or every six months.
She convinces the men in her life to buy things
Oh wait, did you think she was an understanding girl? Far from it. Although she likes to create her own needs from scratch, there are things she can't create, but she won't buy them with her money. Instead, she saves hers and convinces her male friends to buy things for her when they come to visit. Often, the guys are willing to do it, no pressure.
I also need to let you know that even though my friend finds ways to save money, there are things she doesn't like doing. Her laundry. This is the part she pays for. She doesn't like washing clothes, so she pays for this one.
But I believe it is not a big deal since she saves on a lot more things. Paying for her laundry doesn't necessarily mean she is wasting money. After all, she saves on more chores, as mentioned above, and frees up money to pay for things she doesn't like doing.
