As someone who has introduced Hive to some numbers of people, I always like to give small advice before they jump in, by doing this I believe it helps them to understand what they are stepping into and also to prepares their minds for the mighty journey ahead. So yeah ,Hive is a beautiful space, but if you do not understand it from the beginning, it can be overwhelming or even discouraging , I'm saying this because of how it was for me in my first year.
So the first thing I always ask them is “Do you enjoy writing or reading?” I ask this because to me, that is one of the most important parts of Hive , especially if you are going to be posting in communities like Hive learners, The Ink Well, you know those communities that require you to read and write . And especially if you are not a gamer or photographer, and really you don’t have to be a professional writer at all, but just having that passion to express yourself or take time to read what others have written will really go a long way, n because also that is where your motivation comes from ,When you enjoy what you are doing, you will not feel the pressure of always expecting upvotes or rewards you get ? you u will just keep creating and sharing your thoughts naturally.
Another piece of advice I give is to be patient, I can not even stress this enough, because patience is very important here here on hive, you see Hive is not a get-rich-quick platform, and it is not Instagram or TikTok where one viral post will blow you. On Hive, it takes time to grow time to build your audience, time to be noticed, and time to understand how the whole thing really works, sometimes you can post and not get any votes, but that doesn’t mean you should give up.
I tell people to be consistent and keep showing up, even when it looks like nobody is seeing you , someone somewhere is reading and taking note of your effort. One day, it will pay off, you just don’t stop at all
Another important thing I always say is that explore the Blockchain, Hive is more than just blogging, there are games, dApps, communities for every kind of interest music, food, sports, fiction, even crypto and finance, don’t just stay stuck in one place, try out different things, join Discord servers, ask questions, learn about resource credits, learn how to use Ecency or PeakD, and even learn how to power up, you get all those kind of exploring you can do on your own , just learn . It will even help you understand Hive better, and them it becomes easier for you.
So yeah, these are the few pieces of advice that I usually give to people I onboard, Hive is not just about earning money, it is about community, growth, and expression and once you understand that, you will enjoy the journey more.
To anyone new reading this , take your time, enjoy the process, and stay consistent.
