Hello everyone, I feel so happy sharing my first money - making experience in this community.
My first money –making experience is one I would never forget, I would not say it was fun but at least I learnt a lot and I was able to be independent on my own.
Growing up in a middle class family I never really wanted bothering my parents for so many things because I knew they had other things to cater for, I felt the need to grow, meet my needs and become independent. After my secondary education, while I applied for JAMB ( Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) I knew I had some time to spend at home before writing the exams and before finally getting admitted into the university.
I thought of what I could do as a side hustle to help myself with some minor needs rather than always making demands from my parent, I finally applied as a sales girl in a unisex boutique, I submitted my application letter and after some days I was called for an interview, the interview went well and during the weekend I was called to resumed work on Monday of the new week.
I felt so happy and I hurried to inform my parent about it, I was expecting to see a happy remark but instead I got the reverse. My dad was not happy with my decision, he told me that making money at a younger age will distract me from my studies and will make me to appreciate and value money better than my education.
He told me that if there was any of my needs they could not afford to give me I should try and be contented with the little I have, he immediately refuted my decision and warned me not to ever have that kind of thought .
I felt so sad and I wondered why he had a different perspective from what I had in mind, my motive for making money was to learn how to meet some of my minor needs without having to bother them all the time, it was so sad but I had to obey him.
After writing my Jamb and being offered admission, I was happy I was in campus alone and at least I am free to do what I had wanted to do, after my first semester I discovered that the being in school requires money for everything, textbooks, photocopying of materials, printing of materials, transport fare, my personal needs and many other things.
Most times I would have to call my parents regularly to demand for money and I know it was quite burdensome for them because I have other siblings that my parents would cater for, I had to summon courage to do something that could help me financially instead of depending on my parents all the time.
I started writing and doing assignments for people, my course mate and people from other department in exchange for money, I was paid by the student for each assignment I do and that was my first time of making money in my entire life.
I felt so happy that I was able to do something which was not outside my studies at least the more assignments I did for people the more I learnt as well. That was how I was able to make up some money to meet some of my financial needs without having to bother or rely on my parents all the time.
Actually my first money –making experience was not so easy, imagine doing something for the first time, most time I’ll have to deprive myself of sleep just to ensure that I finish up people’s assignments it was always very tasking and required most of my time but the good part of it was that I had the opportunity to learn more when writing and doing the assignments and it never distracted me from my studies.
I kept making money from that and I gradually accumulated some money to meet my needs and to even reach out to my siblings.
My next money making experience is here on hive, my friend introduced me to hive and I found it very useful to do as a side hustle, most times I will have to write at my leisure time and being in hive has helped me to develop my writing skills and equally make money without stress or pressure.

That is how my experience has been so far, it was not so tasking but helped me to grow independently, though it required time but it is worth it and I am glad I took the bold step.
