Good day, family. I guess we are all doing well. Welcome to my blog. I think this is my first post on the
community, and I'm glad to share my thoughts here.
When I saw this week's theme or topic, I wondered how my year has gone so far, as mentioned in this post. @indiaunited/indiaunited-new-contest-and-last-9fb899fa75d58
The next thought that rushed into my mind was, what if the year ended today? What would I hold as an achievement?
The year 2025 is one for which I should be full of gratitude, whether or not I achieve my outlined goals.
About this time last year, I wrote down the primary goals I wanted to achieve in 2025, and at the top of the list was to take my sickle cell awareness program, "Catch Them Young: Know Your Genotype," to 50 schools in my town. In 2024, the project started in November, and by January 2025, we had visited five schools.
My top goal was to visit 50 schools by now, and interestingly, I haven't been able to visit any aside from the first five, but I am grateful.
When this year started, my avascular necrosis, one of sickle cell's complications had worsened, I knew I was long overdue for a total hip replacement surgery, but my family couldn't afford it, so I had zeroed my mind on it and instead managed with the pain, which wasn't easy, but the only choice.
By March, I was back in the hospital, struggling again with my health and other sickle cell complications. Let's say March, April, and May; I was in and out of the hospital.
But in May, my online group of friends on TikTok who knew about my awareness program on the platform rose up to raise the millions needed for the surgery, and miraculously, I had my total hip replacement surgery done in June for one side, the totally collapsed right hip.
It's almost six months post-surgery now. I'm not there yet, but I'm significantly better than I was at the start of the year.
For me, I might not have achieved my top goal of the year, but I now have a new hip that can support my health; it's like a second chance.
Additionally, if the year were to end today, I would be grateful for how far I have come with my natural drinks brand. I started it in January, and despite all the health challenges, I continued to show up for the brand in the best way possible.
I started with two products, but I am proud of my little wins as I end the year with four products in my brand. I applaud myself for being resilient in gathering a client base that appreciates my products.
I remember showing up at a football finals tournament a week after I left the hospital with a walking frame. Lol. I'm glad I'm laying the foundation for my brand, and it's registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. I did that with the help of a fellow Hiver, .
So if it ends today, I have no regrets at all because God has been faithful. And even though i not have achieved what i set out to, but i have so much to be thankful for
Thank you for visiting my blog. Cheers.
