With regards to this weeks prompt, I always circle back to a simple habit I’ve built on Hive. Anything I earn in HBD, I don’t overthink it, I just take it out. I treat it as a kind of personal reward for the effort I’ve put into the Hive ecosystem, even though ive been kinda been absent for quite some time. It’s like acknowledging that the time and creativity I invest there should translate into something tangible in real life. Its always nice to see the work you put into something and enjoy it a bit. Reminds me of when Africas richest man, Dangote said that their was a time, he took out 10 million dollars or their about from his account, just to look at it and know that it is actually real and then he returned it back to his bank again. Its kinda like that for me to be honest.
But that’s just one angle. A lot of people prefer to hold onto their HBD and let it sit, earning interest over time. It’s a strategy, its sort of like investing. If you’re patient, that steady growth can really add up and some kinda just trade with it, when price dropping they buy hive and when price is climbing up, they convert to hbd and hold, although this is definitely risky especially if you’re watching market movements and thinking long-term about value appreciation.
The truth is, HBD isn’t just about saving or spending it’s about strategy. And your strategy can evolve. What works for one person might not work for another. Your financial needs at the time and your goals at the time and your level of involvement on Hive, even your personality, all of these things shape how you interact/ view HBD.
Again of course I can say that from experience that there was a time I used to convert my HBD into HIVE , especially when i first joined hive or rather ecency, more actively at that time i was definitely thinking long-term about growth and accumulation. But right now? That’s not where my mindset is. Right now, I see HBD as a reward system. Simple and clear!
Earn it and Enjoy it and i honestly believe that there’s nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day, Hive gives you options and that’s where its real power lies(decentralised autonomy) Whether you’re saving or spending, or doing a mix, the key thing is that you’re intentional about it.
