Planting
Today, I finally planted maize for my own challenge.
The seeds are in the ground.

Multi cropping
Maize needs nitrogen <- legumes are said to be 'nitrogen fixers'.
Beans need something to lean on <- maize grows tall.
So, (for the challenge & for sience) I am mixing maize and runner bean.
The soil is very dry so I soaked the seeds and will have to water them for a while.
I will probably plant some emergency-potatos on the rest of the plot, instead.
The weather is a big concern this year; It does not rain enough.
Maize in:
3 rows
- rows 30 cm apart
- maize seed every 60 cm
- alternating (zig zag) rows
- random runner beans (legume sprouts often get eaten by birds, so I overplanted)
Dwarf beans to the right of the boards.
