Here in Nigeria folks, we have two major seasons, that's the raining and dry season. Most of the time the raining season comes with cool and harmattan period while the dry season is usually seasoned with heat and little patch up of sun time. These two have their own advantages and disadvantages on poultry farm birds.
Why all these effects are interwoven.
During the dry season which mostly attracts heat and sunny time, there is no usual or traces of diseases in the poultry farm because it's usually dry, even the litter materials plus the birds feces dry off easily without no effect of bizarre smell from the poultry pen. That's the advantages that hear and sunny season brings to the pen but the effect on the birds shows the disadvantages of the heat period towards the birds. If pen are not properly structured, heat periods kill birds that are of age because this rises their temperature which might leads to lot of damage; like mortality, heavy breathing or panting, crippling, loss of weight and what have you.
On the other hand, the raining which is glaringly the period that aged birds enjoy most but tend to be the period that coccidioidomycosis disease mostly occur. Coccidioidomycosis in simple term, is the process whereby poultry farm birds either layers or Broiler birds passes out unpleasant or bizarre feces or shit due to fungus infections with various of microorganisms. These fungus are mostly common during the raining season, typically with a pen with basically wet floor or ground.
Its effect on the cost of production.
The only means to curb these fungus is keeping the pen house clean always or making sure it's dry always. That's the only way to abstain these birds from contacting coccidioidomycosis caused by fungus microorganisms. So failure to get this done always, once the birds are effected, one needs to contact veterinary doctor for medication recommendation to fight this disease in the poultry farm, thereby cutting down profit outcome at the end of the day because your cost of production will be increased.
