So, today i will be preparing our nursery site, so we can raise some nurseries for planting.
A nursery site referes to a place where young plants are raised before there are transplanted to the field.
ideally, plant need to be well taken care of at their tender stage to protect them against harsh weather conditions and pest and given adequate nutrient and moisture.
A good nursery produces healthy, uniform and growing seedlings which can withstand adverse field conditions better.
There are different types of nursery system either in containers or ground nurseries.
Container nursery, seedlings are raised inside a container such as, pots, cans, trays, baskets polythene bags etc.
while
Ground nursery are raised on the ground, where the land is cleared and cultivated to a fine tilt.
So, for our nursery, we had to be creative and sourced for materials around.
Materials Used are:
- Damaged Table,
- Mosquito net
- Nursery trays.
- Scrap cyline boards
We turned the damaged table upside down,placed the scrap boards on it to give it a flat base Then coverd it with the mosquito net. The nursery tray was placed inside it.
The nursery site was placed in a shady area, to reduce direct sunlight and rainfall to the new plants that will be coming up.
