Hello Hivers!!
Welcome to my blog.
So, today I carried out the activity of transferring the cafish fingerlings from their hatchery tank to the outdoor tanks this is to provide enough space for them to grow better .
There is something I have noticed in catfish and it also apply in almost all livestock. The more crowded or densely populated there are there more likely there will not grow well even with good feeding but the less populated there are in a space, even with less feeding, the grow better.
So space plays a very important role in the better growth of catfish and other livestock.
One of the ways, you will know that there are too populated in a tank is that the water gets polluted easily. You can see the water sparkling clean in the morning but by evening it is very dirty, that is to show that there are quite populated in that areas.
So I did transferee mine to a much bigger space after counting and sorting them according to their sizes.
Sorting them according to their sizes, is also super important because there can easily canibalize on them selves, which isn’t good for business.
First I had to clear the tank, it was been occupied by some bigger fishes, had to moved them to another tank because the tank was under a shady place and didn’t want to keep the catfish fingerlings under the direct sunlight. After transferring them, I now had to wash the tank thoroughly and rinse it with salt water and then rinse it with another clean eater again .
Had to cover the outlet with a screan-net to stop the little fingerlings from escaping .
Then after I filled the tank been water half way and then allow it to site for like 45 mins before I transferred the to the tank.
After transferring them, I watched them move around for a while.
But before doing the transfer you have to deprive the fingerling of food for at least. 8hrs before starting the activity.
If you feed them before doing it, you will stress them and there will start vomiting the food there had eaten.
And after transferring them to the tank have to wait for at least 1hr before feeding them. This is to allow them get used to their new environment before feeding them.
