Escape
He felt so jaded. Life was so boring, so predictable and faded.
He held all the right cards. Yes, he knew that he did…
Whitewashed fence in middle class suburbia.
Sweet, plump wife who could bake a mean cheesecake.
A decent job at a decent establishment with a guaranteed promotion every ten years, or so.
There were many pluses. He knew that he was lucky.
He was a well established man.
But every morning at 5:00AM when the birds chirped merrily at his window, perched on the oak tree in his garden, he wished he could fly.
Fly away, fly with grace, fly to freedom from the mundane.
He lived a sedentary life, a life that added inches to his waist every month. So, on a whim he decided to engage in a little excersise to trim the excess his ordinariness multiplied.
He bought all the altheletic gear he needed. It was expensive, but delightfully decadent - neon piping and an Adidas tick.
Cushioned sneakers that were aerodynamically designed to ensure flight.
He knew that the gear he had acquired would make him gym like a star.
Even the bench press…it could be conquered if you dressed the part.
He knew that he was onto something…
He would emerge trim and spectacularly thin, and shake his booty in the staff room, just for fun.
But, life for Ernie had become a challenge, ever since Gemma had joined the faculty. Young as blush. Fresh faced and nubile in all the best ways. Curvaceous and intelligent, a true delight.
A true delight…
Temptation. Ernie revelled in its unpredictability, it held him in a tight embrace.
He showed off his figure in lycra leggings that were high fashion.
He flaunted his belongings and highlighted his potential.
Gemma fell for his charms, his established allure.
But on the night of their encounter a strange and perilous atmosphere insued.
There was lightning and thunder, of course there was, but his heart wasn’t up to the corruption he’d persued.
His heart failed in all the salient places, it almost stopped.
Lucky for Ernie, his wife was a gem and she nurtured him back to health so he could try it again.
