Andy picks up her phone as it buzzes frantically and turns off the alarm. It is now midnight, and Andy gets up from her daily nap. She heads straight to her computer, in which there's a paused game of Sims 4 on the screen.
"All right! Let's go for that final piece of the artifact. I wonder what kind of magic will Martha unlock," she whispered to herself.
Andy's active household on Sims is the Frauser family. Martha Frauser is a young adult Sim witch who married Dan Frauser, an aspiring actor. Martha is currently on a quest to find and assemble a 7-piece artifact. Andy couldn't find any information about this quest anywhere on the internet and appeared to be the first player to encounter it.
The final piece of the artifact was in a cave. But the cave was located under a cliff, so Martha needs at least three skill levels of rock climbing to make the climb possible.
"I don't have time for this!" Andy exclaimed. She has been working on this quest for several days and is very hyped about seeing what will happen next.
She pauses and opens up the cheat console. She then types in Stats.set_skill_level major_rockclimbing 3. Of course, she puts in the bare minimum to slightly overcome the guilt of cheating.
She clicks on Martha and chooses the action "Climb the Mountain". Despite stumbling on a few rocks and a slow climb, Martha finally arrives at the cave. There was a poorly designed chest on top of a table. Perhaps that's the artifact? She orders Martha to open the chest and get whatever was inside it.
"Finally! Now to combine it!" Andy jumps from her chair and proceeds to have Martha assemble the artifact. It shone brightly, and the system made an accomplishment sound. Martha placed the artifact on the floor and when Andy interacted with it, an option came out.
Play god for 12 hours
"Huh? What kind of magic is this? Will my sim be a god? Sweet! That would be interesting to see." Andy hovers her mouse over the option and clicks it. Suddenly, the lights went out, and her screen flashed a blinding light.
Andy opened her eyes and was baffled. "What was that? Wait... Didn't I just wake up?"
She looks at her surroundings and was shocked to see that aside from the fact that this wasn't her bedroom, everything was in 3D. She lifted her hand and slapped it across her face. "What in the world was happening!?" She went scanning the place and went face to face with a standing mirror.
"What the..." Andy exclaimed in disbelief.
"This face... Slender with cat-like eyes wearing thick eyeliner and black lipstick."
"Pretty... wait that is not the issue here. Why am I MARTHA!?"
It finally dawned on Andy that she was transported into the game as Martha. Many questions spiraled into her mind but it was not the time to ponder. She must find a way to get out but wait if she was there then where was Martha? could it be? that Martha was out in the real world? As she was lost in thought she hears a ding.
A dashing young man entered the room and sat beside her bed. Andy started screaming inside as she sees the command box.
WooHoo with Dan
"Oh F--" She tried to resist but she couldn't control herself. Everything went dark and all she could hear was the sound of rustling bed sheets then she came to. She was just lying on top of the bed as if nothing happened.
Now in all sorts of confusion, she noticed that some time has already passed in the Sims world. She suddenly felt hungry, had the urge to pee, and was happy all at the same time. When she thought about peeing, the command "Use Toilet" appeared. As she was going to the toilet, the command was suddenly gone, and instead, she found herself walking outside the house. Instantly, a big pool appeared out of nowhere like god was playing sims. Oh, wait.
"No! I don't want to go for a swim!" She began to walk towards this very suspicious swimming pool. She spun around and magically, her clothes changed into swimming attire. Her feet touched the water as she climbed down the pool railing. Then out of the blue, the pool railing abruptly disappeared while she started swimming freestyle.
Andy swam and swam like there was no end. Her body began to ache. Her legs started to cramp. She yelled and cursed inside her head. She definitely knew what was happening. The player was intentionally trying to drown her. Cold and tired she didn't give up and swam until 4 hrs passed. Suddenly, the pool rail appeared again and she was able to climb back up. As soon as she does, she peed on herself and started crying.
"For fuck's sake! This is a game. Get yourself together!" She tried to encourage herself but she still couldn't control the negative mood she was feeling. She wondered, what if she died in this game will that kill her for good? The player (god) wanted to kill her but why wouldn't she just delete her? The answer was obvious. They wanted her to suffer. But why?
Her thoughts came to a halt when she saw the swimming pool disappear and a loud sound was heard from inside the house. Dan was panicking in front of the fire that broke out in the kitchen. He was just flailing his arms and shouting as any Sim would. Andy thought of getting the fire extinguisher but instead, she started flailing her arms and shouting at the fire. At this rate, Dan and her would burn to death. The fire started scattering on the appliances as they continued acting like total idiots in front of it. Andy started to catch fire and Dan just shifted his attention to Andy and continued shouting. Luckily, the firemen arrived and managed to extinguish the fire.
"Whew... Thank god," says Andy while sighing in relief.
"Is it all over?" and when she thought that. She started feeling annoyed, enraged, and jealous. Dalia, the housemaid, was called over by Dan to clean up the mess from the fire. Why was she feeling these emotions toward Dalia?
And then it hit her. She was playing with Dan last week while Martha was out at witch school. She then made Dan flirt and make out with Dalia out of boredom.
"Well, yeah it was a game! For mary's sake!" What she felt now must have been felt by Martha, and she was fuming.
Even with this realization, Andy couldn't do anything. She was at the palm of Martha's hand now - literally. Martha was no longer playing games - and she knew it - when she instantly dragged Andy toward a small room.
"Oh, hell naw. She figured out how to use the cheat console!"
The small room had no doors or windows. Andy was trapped and had nowhere to go. Fireworks appeared on the floor, enough to celebrate 50 birthdays. If one got lit up, there'd be an unwanted fireworks display. She'll probably burn to death for real and nobody can save her.
Ding!
Light Fireworks
Andy somehow had a box of matches in her hands. She gets one and lit it up on fire. All she could do was watch everything unfold and die a bit inside.
"Shhhhh..." the wick hisses as the flame slowly crawls to the body of the firework.
BOOM!
Each and every one of the fireworks started to take off. Various explosive sounds and whistles inside the small room. What a sight! It's hotter, the smoke's taking her vision away.
"I guess this is how you go out with a bang," said Andy as she was dying inside and burning outside. Andy was ready to meet the grim reaper when she hears a familiar sound.
Ding!
12 hours is up.
Everything was suddenly bright. When she opened her eyes, she was sitting on her chair, in front of the computer. The Notepad app was opened and it said, "I am aware of our world's truth." In horror, she abruptly closes the application and the Sims window pops up. She sees Martha looking up at the sky nonchalantly.
"Sul sul," Martha says as she waves at nothing.
Andy uninstalled the game and never touched a simulation game ever again.
The end.
