Little update: A big thanks to those who are following this story so far! In case you are wondering, this is a self-written story (an amateur attempt I know) during the days when I was fascinated by the stuff about knights, castles, kingdoms and sorcery, you get what I mean. For those who wish to check out the previous chapters, here's the link! With that let the adventure continue!
Chapter 49
The Perisher responded quick enough to fend off the blow with his skeletal sabre. Mustering his strength, he grabbed the hilt of this skeletal sabre and took a swipe at Ariton but it was intelligently parried.
As the two of them launched into a mouth-watering battle, an explosion occurred in one of the wings and out burst Selera and the three sons from Maltov's room. Wayne led the group with his mithril scimitar and slashed his way through the skeletal warriors. Selera sent spells after spells, decapitating several skeletal warriors, while Moya casted the Incendiary spell to deflect the swarming battlefiends. Edward followed right behind and continuously recited defensive spells to surround the four of them with layers and layers of protection. These creatures proved to be no match for them as the four of them sprinted their way to the throne room.
Giving up the throne was not on both their minds but Ariton and the Perisher stopped fighting when they saw the four of them right outside.
"At last, we are all here. Let's fight it out, shall we?"
Selera replied, "We are not here to fight with you, Perisher. We have come to surrender ourselves."
"So you guys know you aren't our match? Come over here, let me take a look at the sons of Doria."
Suddenly, Ariton spoke, "Wait a minute, why is there only three of them? Where are the other two?"
Afraid that their plan was going to fail, Selera immediately sent streams of acid towards Ariton. Earlier, Ariton had already seen the slight twitch on Selera's face. He moved a few steps back in a calm manner and let the streams of acid fly past him. They landed straight at the wooden pillars in the throne room and the corrosive nature resulted in the formation of the hole.
Before Selera sent another round of spells, Ariton retaliated by sending a series of sparks towards the group of them, causing the four of them to disperse frantically. Without hesitation, Moya and Edward muttered incantations and generated several explosions in the throne room. As dust and smoke slowly filled up the room, Ariton attempted to escape by jumping out of the window. Selera saw his action and immediately gave chase, leaving the three sons in the throne room with the Perisher.
As the dust slowly settled, Wayne dashed forward with his mithril scimitar and planted a stab in the Perisher's chest. However, the Perisher seemed to be immune to the attack and did not feel any pain. In response, the Perisher drew his skeletal sabre and made a massive slash but Wayne deftly brought his mithril scimitar up and parried the mighty blow. The two weapons clashed and the two of them remained stationary as they engaged in a competition of strength and endurance.
Wayne was strong but he was nowhere near the Perisher, and slowly, he moved back one step after another. As the Perisher inched forward on him, Edward desperately tried to boost Wayne’s energy but it did not help.
Seeing that Wayne was not able to hold out any longer, Moya took a gamble and uttered, "Weapon defecto!"
To his surprise and relief, both their weapons flew off their grips and landed on another side of the room. Edward quickly scrambled towards the skeletal sabre but found himself in the Perisher"s path. As Edward stood up to face the towering creature, the Perisher slammed his fist right into his body and the blow sent him spiralling up in the air and his body landed heavily on the ground.
"Edward!" shouted Moya, as he leapt across the room.
Moya found Edward unconscious on the floor. He placed his fingers over Edward's nostrils and was relieved to know that he was still alive. Pulling Edward to his corner of the throne room, Moya left him alone.
Just as the Perisher wielded the skeletal sabre, Wayne found his mithril scimitar right behind the table and gripped it tightly in his hand. The pair clashed together and Wayne tried to use his agility to his advantage by moving all around the Perisher, in an attempt to confuse him. This caused the Perisher to execute slashes randomly and none of them found their way towards Wayne.
Just when Moya felt powerless to do anything, Wayne shouted, "Get Selera back! We need her!"
