Emmanuel's POV
Emmanuel was thinking how he was going to cope. Letting go of his friends from his previous school wasn't so easy but he had to as his parents thought the school was of low standard.
He made up his mind to be on his own, talk only when spoken to and stay out of trouble. These things won't be so hard to do, after all he was an independent teenager or so he thought.
His first school day went as expected. Everyone was staring at him and trying to find out about his life. He was careful to give only information he wanted to give and not put under any form of pressure.
Classes were going on and everyone seemed to be chatting about one thing or the other. He looked around the classroom. Twenty four teenegers packed in the four walls of a classroom, terrific.
As he was about to look back at his book, his attention was caught. There was this particular girl in the midst of three other girls. Her aura was amazing and quite intriguing. She looked calm, sat like a lady and was very pretty. She was very careful the way she was speaking. Just his type of girl.
Emmanuel made up his mind to do what he never thought he would do, He asked his seat partner about the girl. His seat partner was surprised because since Emmanuel sat on that seat, the only thing he had said to him was……..
"Hay, good morning. I'm Emmanuel and I guess I'd be your seat partner"
He found out that her name was Bimide. A charming name for a charming girl. He vowed that he would talk to her by all means but how was he supposed to go about that?
All he knew was that he couldn't get his eyes off her and his sitting position had made things easier for him as she was seated directly adjacent to him. Anytime he wasn't writing or listening to the teacher, he was either thinking about her or trying to get a glance of her. Whenever their eyes locked, he would give 'the sexiest wink' he could muster.
Things were moving fast and he was slowly forgetting all about his previous school. He wondered if forgetting people was so easy or this girl just had a massive effect on him.
He impulsively asked one of Bimide's friend to call her one day and Bimide bailed. What was he even thinking? He should have seen that one coming. How would he call such a prestigious girl and expect her audience?
He had been looking for more creative ways to talk to Bimide until one day when his seatmate ran up to him and was like
"Emmanuel, if you really want to talk to Bimide, you'd go to the staircase right now".
Emmanuel sprang up and sprinted to the staircase. Wondering why he sprinted? The thing with highschool girls was that they never walked alone. They went everywhere with their friends, so if you ever want to talk intimately with them, catch them when they are alone.
On arriving at the staircase, he realized he wasn't in any way prepared to have that conversation. He began fidgeting. He finally spoke up.
Hello Bimide "he greeted
"Hello Emmanuel" she responded with so much calmness.
A moment of silence. A whole lot was running through his mind. This damsel here was just amazing. When he realized things were getting awkward, he decided to say anything. Oh! her handkerchief, I should compliment it, he thought.
"Uhm I like the pattern on your handkerchief" he complimented.
Come to think of it, he always saw her with a handkerchief. She wasn't just pretty but sanitary. Incredible
"Oh thank you" she replied with a smile
She smiled! His brain had bailed on him. He was totally blank and didn't know what to say again. He wished he could just stare at her without looking like a dumb stalker. He was about to excuse himself when Bimide's friend yelled:
"Bimide, you're going to be late for English class".
He hated it when people yelled but that particular yell was very much appreciated as he had managed to escape the moment.
It seemed like Bimide liked him too, hence, other moments like that weren't so awkward. They became fond of each other with every passing day.
He wanted to ask her to be his girlfriend, but he didn't want it to look like he was rushing or anything so he waited. It would be more spontaneous if he asked her in their senior year.
The school session came to an end and it was time to go home. They were given a one week break. Emmanuel couldn't help but fantasize about how he would become a boyfriend very soon. Not just any boyfriend but the boyfriend to the love of his life. How would he ask her out? With a box of chocolates? Ice cream maybe? He was just so excited.
That excitement went down the drain when his parents called him and told him he was going to be transferred to another school because he had repeated the class. He failed? Shoot!
He wouldn't want to bring shame to himself and his love so he agreed to get transferred. He wouldn't want to bear the embarrassment of repeating a class when everyone progressed to the next class.
He tried to communicate with Bimide but she didn't have a phone. A girl who didn't have a phone in this new age? That made her more interesting to him. He figured that the only way he was going to communicate with her was through one of the guys he trusted in that school.
He wrote a letter apologizing for not making it to the next school session, stating his reasons and asking her to keep it private. He hoped the letter would help make things a little better between them as she must have been so distressed to resume school and he was gone.
Now the question is, did the letter get delivered?
The letter never got delivered, hence, Emmanuel had indirectly created a monster.
