Greetings!
My son is turning six years old next month and the next school he will be attending first grade in elementary, so, I think it will be fitting to introduce him to mathematics so that he has advanced knowledge the next school year. Like the previous homeschooling that we did, I am also going to use "Sank Magic Practice Copybook - Math" for this lesson. The book uses trace-writing with corresponding graphics for easy understanding.
We started the lesson with the most basic of addition which is "1+1" followed by "1+2" with corresponding images of apples and oranges. My son seems to be enjoying his first taste of addition because of the engaging graphics offered by the book.

But before I let him trace-write I make sure to teach him how addition works and how to add the numbers on the given example. Also, I taught him how to add small numbers by way of counting with his fingers.

At first, my son seems to have a hard time counting with his fingers but when he got the hang of it it became so easy for him in a matter of a couple of minutes.

At this moment, the numbers that he is adding are just exactly how many his fingers are, so, I just let him count with my fingers, and then he will trace-write in on his copybook.

I did not immerse him too deeply in his first experience with mathematics (addition), we stopped at "2+5" so that he will not be overwhelmed. I also asked him if wants more lessons but he declined.
All in all, I am satisfied with his first performance on his first experience with addition. And next up is subtraction, I hope I can teach him well so that he is also going to understand subtraction just like what he did with addtion.
That is all for now guys, see you next time. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.
