Greetings!
Yesterday, my son officially attended face-to-face school for the first time, he is now in Grade I. Last school year schooling is done using modules so he was not able to experience face-to-face teaching and now that he is finally attending school we are also very much ready in augmenting his knowledge in relation to his school curriculum.
We were told that part of this school year's curriculum is reading and since the priority of the school in the first week of schooling is readying the students' emotional state before officially starting the teaching my wife did research online for reading tutorials for Grade I. We were glad because my wife found what we exactly looking for. And his reading experience began.
Most of the time the Filipino language is taught accompanied by common things (living things and non-living things). The video reading tutorial starts with a living thing, a cow. The cow is Baka in the Filipino language. The video reading tutorial is also accompanied by the actual image of the subject which helps a lot in memorizing the syllables.
Then followed by another living thing, a hunchback. Hunchback is Kuba in the Filipino language. It is also accompanied by an actual image of a hunchback. By the way, my wife took the helm this time in homeschooling our son while I was the one recording it on a video. As you may have noticed, we let our son wear an earpiece because the rain is interfering with the sound of the device we used in playing the reading video tutorial.
Next is another common living thing, a duck. Duck is Bibe in the Filipino language. My wife actually watched the video first before she started teaching our son in reading two syllables words. The video is well-structured and any child that is able to speak will be able to go along with it.
In the Filipino language, the older sister's equivalent is Ate, dog is Aso. As of the moment while I am recording the video I am very happy because my son was able to repeat most of the syllables spoken by the teacher in the reading video tutorial.
At the end of the video tutorial, a summary of words that are part of the tutorial were combined on a single screen for the learner to re-read all of them, therefore, making the learner remember them more.
