As part of our schooling, our kids all do some copy work from the Bible. This helps them learn how words are spelled, practice their cursive (which is really important here in Panama), and learn some from the Bible as well. They do copy work every school day.
I used to do some copy work myself, but I've gotten out of the habit. I really want to get back into writing verses in cursive again.
An email subscription that I have found is Bible Copy Club. I really like this one because they have a devotional that goes along with the scripture to be copied that day. It's only a few verses to write down, so it doesn't take a lot of time. And I like that it goes daily to my email!
I also follow The Ruffled Mango on facebook and she releases a calendar each month with suggested scripture to copy. Each month has a different theme, and she just released the themes for 2025.
Another option on facebook with a calendar to print off is Scripture Writing. This page also has a different theme for each month. I like that the suggested writings are a couple of verses and can be done in a few minutes.
Another website I recently found that is not related to writing scripture is Pray 10/40. This is also an email subscription where you can sign up for many different prayer emails. They send suggestions of countries to pray for, and they include a little background and prayer needs. There are options for the persecuted church, 10/40 window, choose a country, frontier people groups, unique people groups, and a kids corner. The kids corner includes subscriptions for family devotionals, family activities, and unreached people groups. I have plans to integrate these emails into our Bible reading on school days.
What do you think about Bible copy work as part of practicing writing in cursive? Charlotte Mason emphasizes the importance of copy work for children in their schooling, and I also believe it is something worthwhile for various reasons.
Psalm 119: 9-16
How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, Lord;
teach me your decrees.
With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth.
I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.
