Library Day
When we say Library Day, some people think that we only nerd around books and read and read alone. But then, it is my children's favorite activity. They would remind me of this day so that we do not skip this exciting day in our homeschool week.
Most of the time, when we are at the Abu Dhabi Children's Library, the kids go and read a short book then they proceed to check out the many activities that are here. Most of the reading still happens at home because we are able to borrow up to six (6) books per child for three weeks.
Beit Beit Experience
Beit Beit (please don't ask me -- I don't know if this translates to anything) is one of the activities in the library that's been ongoing since May and will be there until March 2024.
Relive life before technology as we bring back the pretend-play Emirati cultural experience in "Beit Beit," where children used to play in imaginary houses built of Takyas and mattresses. The experience will include a story exhibit, vintage doll exhibit, toy shop, and play area for children to enjoy.

Abu Dhabi Children’s Library
I noticed this room when we went here to the Library so I checked it out first while the kids were wandering about. It looked good and the amenities were new so I invited the kids to try it out.
It is pretty simple -- there are no actual installations for the exhibit, but most are only stickers on the wall.
As we go around, we would read the information written on the walls about the different parts of a traditional Emirati home and what used to transpire here during the past generations.
Apart from visuals, Beit Beit also has mini-workshops like this one that Little Miss tried. She dressed up paper dolls along with the other girls who were also there at that time.
It was a quick activity that tested Little Miss' composure since they only had 15 minutes to work and she had to share the templates with the other girls.
They traced the paper dolls' hair and clothes using the template, then cut and pasted them together. She managed to finish on time, for which she was so happy.
Meanwhile, Little Man and I checked the other sections out. We particularly loved the Majlis, just sitting at the pillows on the floor.
It's great that the exhibit just started when we came and the facilities are still new and clean. :D
Little Man enjoyed the tents solo for a while and then a few more small kids came just as we were about to leave.
A few moments later, Little Miss was done with her paper doll activity.
The kids loved the short but sweet stop over at the Beit Beit room. It was a delightful blend of learning and fun, and a glimpse into Emirati culture. I really appreciate the Abu Dhabi Children's Library for providing such engaging activities that make learning an adventure for my little ones.
Indeed, our Library Day isn't just about reading books; it's about exploring, discovering, and creating memories that go beyond the pages. My children love it and actually, by me as well. I love being there, surrounded by books. We always look forward to the next one, where they can do more activities, meet their Library friends (yes, they managed to meet new friends there as well), and explore more books to read.
