Two days ago my eldest boy got a 3D pen..
With the popularity of 3D printing in its various forms, it’s brought along with it all sorts of affordable and accessible variations. The pen being one of them.
He actually saw some people on YouTube using one and he really liked the look of it - so he asked for one.
I’d not really heard of one but I did my research and put in a order for a delivery.
My boy is a very prolific artist as it is, already racking up stacks and stacks of paper and cardboard that he’s drawn his amazingly detailed characters on.. so this is a real step up for him to be going 3D.
As soon as he received it, I immediately ordered more colours for him. I knew this could become something big for him.
He’s been using it every day for a couple of hours, getting used to it and learning how it works. And making a mess 😂
A good happy mess though!
He started by doing some basic moulds and shapes, then moved on to blob-like monsters.
Next he did a basket and ball.. which he invited me to play catch with!
Once he was comfortable with it, he started to set his sights a little higher and made a heart! ❤️
He then made it in to a badge using a pin.
Each of us in the family got our own badge :)
Next came Pokemon!
One of his favourite things. And with the help from his mum stencilling the outlines for him, he made these awesome badges!!
The latest things he created today were these incredible PacMac key rings! He could legitimately sell these. They’re ace.
I provided a few images from Google to make a stencil from on paper - I helped him with the black outlines on some bits then then he finished and coloured them himself!
We were blown away by the results.
I can honestly say this gadget is fully worth the £19.99 we paid for it. Plus the extra £8.50 from eBay for 10 metres of 10 colours.
If you or your kids are in to art or design in any way then this is a really easy to use tool that will help level up your tech skills.
It helps refine your precision, learn about handling hot tools and gives a new perspective on what’s possible.
Any feedback left here about his work will be read out to the creator, so if you have any nice feedback for him then do let me know ❤️😀
