Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to be here again. Today I want to share with you a topic that I dealt with years ago, when I was in my high school years.
I was remembering that when I was studying; together with a group of classmates we decided to do a project different from all the other projects seen in school.
To give us ideas the teachers took us to a river which is the one that supplies water to the town and where the water pumping plant was located, and while we did several didactic field activities we became interested in a community with which we decided to work.
Hola a todos, es un gusto estar nuevamente por aquí. Hoy deseo compartir con ustedes un tema que traté hace años, cuando estuve en mis años de educación secundaria.
Estaba recordando que cuando estudiaba; junto a un grupo de compañeros decidimos hacer un proyecto diferente a todos los demás proyectos vistos en el colegio.
Para darnos ideas los profesores, nos llevaron a un río el cual es el que surte de agua el pueblo y en donde se encontraba la planta de bombeo de aguas, y mientras hicimos varias actividades de campo didácticas nos interesamos en una comunidad con la cual decidimos trabajar.

After some discussion and several hours of conversation, it turned out that we were all interested in the loss of culture in that community, so we decided to address the problem, but was it an easy task? No, not in the least.
The project would require dedication and research from all of us, even so we decided to do it, and under the title "The transculturation of the Jivi ethnic group in the community La Reforma" after doing an arduous research and almost two years of work on the subject prepared us to defend the topic.
Those years prepared us for the many challenges that some of us were going to acquire in the future, but it was really a unique experience that I would live again.
Luego de un debate y de varias horas de conversación resultó que en conjunto nos interesamos por la pérdida de cultura que había en aquella comunidad, así que decidimos abordar el problema, pero, ¿Era una tarea fácil? No, no era ni en lo más mínimo.
El proyecto requeriría dedicación e investigación de parte de todos, aun así lo decidimos, y bajo el título “La transculturación de la etnia Jivi en la comunidad La Reforma” luego de hacer una ardua investigación y casi dos años de trabajo en el tema nos preparó para defender el tema.
Aquellos años nos prepararon para los muchos retos que algunos íbamos a adquirir en el futuro, pero realmente fue una experiencia única que volvería a vivir.

I remembered this occasion because now I live in a different place, sincerely growing up in a town and a city is a totally different experience, I grew up in one of the less populated states of Venezuela, in which indigenous ethnicities also abound, they live in communities and mostly maintain at least their general traditions.
Although they live in large part with their culture, the continuous contact with us so called “Criollo 's” made them leave aside important things like their cultural identity, and this is their language and fundamental teaching.
In the communities they usually passed from generation to generation teachings of each ethnicity which believe me are wonderful and valuable things that are not given in schools or high schools, one of the most common things was to see how some children no longer spoke the indigenous language but only Spanish, and although it is true that Spanish is the one that helped them to "overcome in an advanced society" the reality is that leaving aside their education limited them in what they could achieve in the future.
Recordé esta ocasión porque ahora vivo en un sitio diferente, sinceramente crecer en un pueblo y una ciudad es una experiencia totalmente diferente, yo crecí en uno de los estados menos poblados de Venezuela, en el cual abundan también las etnias indígenas, ellos viven en comunidades y en su mayoría mantienen al menos sus tradiciones generales.
Aunque viven en gran parte con su cultura, el continuo contacto con nosotros los llamados “Criollos” los hizo ir dejando de lado cosas importantes como su identidad cultural, y esto es su idioma y enseñanza fundamental.
En las comunidades por lo general se pasaban de generación en generación enseñanzas propias de cada etnia las cuales créanme son cosas maravillosas y valiosas que no se dan en las escuelas o liceos, una de las cosas más comunes era ver cómo algunos niños ya no hablaban el idioma indígena sino solo el español; y aunque es verdad que el español es el que los ayudaba a “superarse dentro de una sociedad avanzada” la realidad es, que dejar de lado su educación los limitaba en lo que podrían llegar a lograr en un futuro.

After the research, conducting surveys, proposing strategies and defending that project we graduated, and our research was saved for the termites to disappear, that project and others that dealt with issues such as the inclusion of indigenous language in education were only used as training, but is it really useful to do projects and discard them?
I think that institutions should implement a strategy to continue the projects that even if they are just tests, they really address important issues that are beneficial or help to implement changes in society.

Luego de la investigación, realizar encuestas, plantear estrategias y defender aquel proyecto nos graduamos, y nuestra investigación fue guardada para que las termitas la desaparezcan, aquel proyecto y otros que trataban temas como la inclusión del idioma indígena en la enseñanza solo fueron usados como entrenamiento, pero, ¿Realmente es útil hacer proyectos y desecharlos?
Pienso que en las instituciones, deberían implementar una estrategia para continuar los proyectos que aunque sean solo pruebas, realmente traten temas importantes que sean beneficiosos o ayuden a implementar cambios en la sociedad.
