I think a lot can be said about working from home for those of us that are office based. I am in no way shape or form complaining as I am fortunate enough to be able to still work and earn an income where many are not.
But I want to talk to the benefits rather than the negatives as I've noticed lil miss 4s vocabulary dramatically increasing. She quite often sits in on meetings and says hi to everyone. I always encourage parents to involve their kids, which can be hard but it helps the other parent and prevents them from having to pin them down..... no we don't pin our kids down but I have heard of some that have to wrestle with their kids to keep them away from the other parent whose working.
Working from home also provides an opportunity for kids to see what work really is rather than just knowing the parents are going to work they see them, they learn, they experience it. My wifes a nurse and councillor so she can only do it in part and she's trying to shift the mentality at a local level to be more kid friendly which will support and enable more women to take leadership roles. In 2021 Women still do the majority of kid and house duties. If we want to change that work places need to change for both men and women and be more adaptive (my opinion)
It also gives me alot more time with my kids and I've been able to be here everyday of my sons life. An opportunity I missed with lil miss 4, every time I'd get home she'd be asleep :(

I missed out on so many awesome moments and for what it's worth I have really enjoyed being in lock down, I've also grown some international friends on Hive and Leo which is awesome.
We've also spent alot more time together cooking, gardening, shopping and doing general everyday things. Life skills that are important when you become an adult. Sadly she stops at doing the washing and I don't know why everyone always cracks it about washing. It is the easiest thing to do, you put clothes in and the machine does the work. I think it's more to do with the hanging out and trying to sort them afterwards.
But I think these skills are the skills that education facilities miss out on, these Important life skills are vital to ensure our kids grow up being independent and successful adults. Many youth reports always identify the lack of youth skills needed to be addressed. You can't get these skills in a classroom they can only be taught by doing.
For that I am greatful of lockdown and the benefits it has provided, homeschooling probably wouldn't have crossed my mind if it hadn't been forced. But one things for certain is that I love it and I don't want it to end.
I've been even having discussions at work about what the future would look like if I was to continue the current work/life/education style.
Only time will tell.
What have you been seeing as the benefits of homeschooling your kids, do they have better speech and problem solving skills?
