Before I made the flashcards for our Letter Blending session, I have actually made another reading material for the little one. It was a pull-out type flashcard.
I did not know what else to do to make the kiddo read new words so I needed to resort to visually appealing reading aids. Let me share how I made this one.
The materials are pretty simple, my favorite material of them all: used milk boxes, glue, scissors, a couple of colored markers, black marker, manila paper. All you got to do is to cut the carton to form a little tiny box where you will store the flashcards. It's not just storage for the flashcards when they are not in use.
I covered this one with manila paper. I planned on covering it with plastic cover but I figured it's gonna get in the way of the flashcards when they are being pulled out.
This kind of activity helps little kiddo recall the phonics. She gets to read the letters one by one using phonics, then I planned on teaching her the whole word. It did not however help with the letter blending. So this reading material will be put under the drawer at the moment until such time when she has mastered letter blending. For now, I'll just keep this one here.
