Hola amigos hivers, hoy les vengo a relatar un poco de mi experiencia en la cría de pequeños rumiantes como son los caprinos.

Todo empezó hace unos cuatro años, vivo en la casa familiar, la cual cuenta con 2 amplios patios y mi papá y yo full de trabajo teníamos poco tiempo para atender y mantener todo en orden.
It all started about four years ago, I live in the family house, which has 2 large yards and my dad and I full of work had little time to attend and keep everything in order.
Entonces tome la decisión de comprar una pequeña cabra, para que se comiera el monte de los patios y así facilitar el trabajo los días de descanso, esa fue la expectativa ya que en mi inexperiencia me base en el rumor de que las cabras comían de todo.

La cabra iba comiendo monte del patio de a poco, pensé que era por ser pequeña, por ello empiezo a investigar a fondo sobre la cría de ganado caprino y me compré otra cabra ya adulta dando leche.
The goat was eating the mountain of the yard little by little, I thought it was because it was small, so I started to investigate in depth about goat breeding and I bought another goat, already adult, giving milk.
Hago contacto con un veterinario con conocimientos en el tipo de animal, ya que vivo en una zona urbana y la mayoría de los médicos veterinarios trata es perros y gatos.
I made contact with a veterinarian with knowledge in the type of animal, since I live in an urban area and most of the veterinarians treat dogs and cats.
Empecé a tener asesorías del doctor, más las investigaciones que fui realizando, me fui apasionando mas en el medio y en esos animales, hasta el punto que los veo como un negocio sustentable y un buen plan de jubilación.
I started to get advice from the doctor, plus the research I was doing, I became more passionate about the environment and these animals, to the point that I see them as a sustainable business and a good retirement plan.
Y teniendo como ventaja que son animales dóciles solo necesitan 4mts2 por animal para su estabulamiento siguió siendo factible en mi casa.
And having as an advantage that they are docile animals, they only need 4mts2 per animal for their stabling, it continued to be feasible in my house.
Al principio, mi crecimiento fue lento, ya que en la zona no habían criadores de cabras y no tenia padrotes cerca para embarazar a mis cabras, hice relaciones con un amigo de un primo que es criador en otro estado y me hizo el favor de recibir la cabra y prestarme el servicio de monta.
At the beginning, my growth was slow, since there were no goat breeders in the area and I had no goat farmers nearby to impregnate my goats, I made relations with a friend of a cousin who is a breeder in another state and he did me the favor of receiving the goat and provide me with the service of mating.
Pasaron los meses y nacen mis primeras crías en casa y empieza el ordeño, ya empezábamos a reemplazar la compra de leche en polvo por vitaminas y medicinas de control preventivo para las cabras ya tenía a las 4.
Months went by and my first kids were born at home and milking began, we were starting to replace the purchase of powdered milk with vitamins and preventive control medicines for the goats, I already had 4 of them.
Paso un tiempo, mientras las crías crecían y ya los patios estaban limpios me tocó el trabajo de traer pasto a diario para complementar la dieta de las cabras.
After some time, while the kids were growing and the yards were clean, I had the job of bringing grass daily to supplement the goats' diet.
Pasado el tiempo llegó la temporada de partos en la casa y por mi inexperiencia y la de la cabra por ser primeriza, tuve la perdida de una de las cabras porque no logro parir. Eso me decepcionó un poco porque tenía muchas expectativas en esos nacimientos.
After some time, the calving season came and due to my inexperience and the goat's inexperience because she was a first time goat, I lost one of the goats because she did not calve. I was a little disappointed because I had high expectations in those births.
Al pasar un mes como cosa de Dios llega a la zona un nuevo vecino, que entre su mudanza viene con tres cabras y un buen semental, el cual me prestó y empezó mi desarrollo consiguiendo en 4 partos 7 hembras las cuales están en desarrollo y a esperas de su potencial lechero.
After a month, as God would have it, a new neighbor arrived in the area, who among his move came with three goats and a good stallion, which he lent me and began my development, obtaining in 4 births 7 females which are in development and awaiting their milk potential.
Este negocio me ha servido para tener una alimentación más sana, en casa tengo cuatro hijos y todos están siendo alimentados con esta leche y sus derivados que poco a poco he ido aprendiendo a realizar.
This business has helped me to have a healthier diet, at home I have four children and all of them are being fed with this milk and its derivatives that little by little I have been learning to make.
También me ha servido para vender leche y contribuir en el sano desarrollo de bebes recién nacidos con problemas en la lactancia materna o problemas de intolerancia a la lactosa.

Sigo creyendo en la ganadería caprina como el futuro de la ganadería en Venezuela, es una ganadería en desarrollo ya que en teoría donde se cría una vaca se crían diez cabras, siendo así mucho más rentables y productivas, actualmente estoy intentando ingresar a la asociación de caprinocultores del estado para así darle legalidad y árbol genealógico a mis animales, también está en desarrollo un proyecto de ley con el gobierno que protege e impulsa a los pequeños medianos y grandes criadores del país.
I still believe in goat farming as the future of livestock in Venezuela, it is a developing livestock because in theory where a cow is raised ten goats are raised, thus being much more profitable and productive, I am currently trying to join the association of goat farmers in the state to give legality and family tree to my animals, is also developing a draft law with the government that protects and promotes small, medium and large breeders in the country.
