You heard it right. Lethwei world championship was held in the US.
I stumbled on the video while trawling through YouTube.
My opinion on it was simply, soft. Yes the champion Leduc is a beast however. A doctor to inspect Washington part way through a round? That would not have happened in Burma and more importantly, s referee stoppage when the opponent was still standing.
Soft. A very cheap event. I didn't like it. Who ever created this event should have insured the rules are true to the spirit of Lethwei.
I would want the Burmese to get this out of soft hands, even if it does not get mainstream coverage since, Lethwei is supposed to be raw and brutal.
The biggest con for this event was Washington was not provided the ability to recover from a knockout. And there was not a single Burmese in attendance.
What a joke.
What I liked. Leduc. He basically made it worth my while to watch him fight. But if I have his ears I would not cheapen his achievement by ever participating on this events in future.
