Building During Down Times
LAYING A GOOD FOUNDATION FOR THE GOOD TIMES
I posted recently about my astonishment about how much Central London has changed, particularly all the shiny stuff near Tottenham Court Road. I do remember just a couple of years ago when the area was full of scaffolding. All through out the down tie of COVID, they were building the area up. That work didn't stop. Now, a couple of years on, we can see the results of all the disruption and effort put in.
Such is life isn't it? Look at crypto; we have the bull market and the bear market. Although I've been told off on my YouTube channel that these financial terms don't apply to crypto, but you know what I mean - the up times and down times. Pretty much everyone does well in the up time, even the shitcoins with zero fundamentals. Everyone is in a state of euphoria and everything pumps.
During the down times, however, 99% of these projects crash completely. Some of the good ones go too. Only the strongest survive. A good sign of a solid project is building during the down times. I've been looking around the crypto sphere and I see projects that are putting in the work building through the down market. Hive is one of them. XRP is another. These projects have a bright future and have shown themselves to be resilient to whatever.
When we inevitably return to the bull market, we shall suddenly see a bunch of projects spring out of nowhere claiming to be "the best this, and the best that". Zero fundamentals and outright scams. Some of them are going to do very well, like Terra Luna did, before executing a giant rug pull on the cryptosphere. It keeps happening, and it will keep happening as far as I can see.
As for me, I try to keep focused on fundamentals. It's why I'm here on Hive. If I'm being honest, I think the community on Hive isn't what it used to be. I see some good things happening in the Venezuelan community perhaps, especially in the whole makeup and foodie scene. That's really good to see real content and community engagement. There're are also vibrant communities in the Philippines and possibly Nigeria, but the energy is much lower than in past years. Perhaps it's because of the down market, who knows.
We used to have an incredible photography community here for instance, but I get the impression that photography is seen as "low effort" these days. Photography isn't low effort, far from it, especially when it involves models or landscape. A lot of work goes into that stuff.
Video is definitely looked down upon these days. Video used to be a big part of this platform before. We had at least three thriving video platforms on here before, but it now seems the remaining two are at war with each other. No idea what's going on with that.
Somewhat related side note sidenote: I was watching a prolific crypto influencer on Youtube and he made a mind-boggling statement. He said "there is no viable web3 social media platform right now". Imagine that! I'm not surprised though since we have the habit of chasing large influencers away from this platform.
Anyway, I'm still here and quite enjoy posting here and building my account back up. I hope for brighter days ahead.
Peace & Love,
Adé
