I like to have a dual boot on my computer...Windows and Linux. I'd really prefer Linux entirely, but there are programs that I use that are require Windows. So, I like a dual boot...option at startup: 1. Linux or 2. Windows.
Microsoft doesn't like this and their boot doohickey doesn't play fair with other operating systems. This, and the fact that I couldn't get my Linux OS to connect to the internet, recently prompted me to try to update the Linux OS.
There's a point in installing an operating system that says something like, "This is serious, you might whack out everything if you don't know what you're doing." Paraphrased.

Well, I rendered my desktop into a boat anchor.
So, what to do? Get into the BIOS, fuddle around there and try to boot somewhere, anywhere. No luck. So, boot into a live DVD. Great! It works and I can salvage a few files over on the other partition. So, what to do now? Get on my laptop, create a bootable OS setup, launch and install it on the desktop.
This is boring stuff, but here's the point...
...as I type this on the desktop's new OS, there's nothing on it. It forces me to ponder, "What will I install?" I got into the Edge browser, went to "download Brave" and downloaded. While downloading, I opened notepad and am typing this. From within Brave, the next thing I'll do is set up Hive Keychain and then check all things Hive.
The lesson...I think this says something about me and my internet habits. And it's okay!
Below is what I typed before the browser/Keychain was set up:
