Personal opinions is what we need. There are too many fake accounts right now for me to even know if people are being serious about why they care about downvoting in the first place..

The problem is rewards are not free. We pay through it via inflation. Just like in the real world, when the government prints more money, the value of fiat goes down relative to other assets. We, as an ecosystem, sacrifice capital appreciation in exchange for content. We decide what content we are willing to “pay for” / lose money for. We as an ecosystem decide what content that is.

Right now we pay for manual farms and bot farms. This is the kind of content we sacrifice HIVE price for.

When we see HIVE price go down, do we feel satisfied? If it was a good trade we probably would.

Few people are satisfied and a lot of people, not myself included, are pissed HIVE price is down.

It made it good for me. I was able to buy in at around 0.11 per HIVE.

But this new standard of content that everyone has got accustomed to has downstream consequences for other stakeholders.

People write things they don’t like for communities they don’t care about. So they sell the HIVE; they don't cherish the content they made so don't cherish the HIVE they earned.

People don’t care if they get downvoted for spam. Everyone else is doing it, why can’t I?

Well not everyone is doing it. Most “whales” have good content. The ones that don’t usually get downvoted by other whales.

As far as I can tell it’s been this way for a while but people still get mad at the “whales.”

To me it’s a class thing. People from certain cultures learn to hate “rich” people, even if the amount of money people spend here is a joke.

1 hedge fund could buy a shit load of HIVE tomorrow and they could do it in a way that no one would know.

I did it in a way that is pretty public because I think transparency is valuable, especially in this context.
