So some people do not know how the reward pool works.
The reward pool is our common good but it is not a public good. There is a difference!
A common good is basically our shared resource as a "community."
Now obviously Hive is not a community in any traditional framework. We are a bunch of different tribes with a bunch of different agendas.
But all people and bots do have something in common which is the reward pool. This is a shared resource and it is our common good.
A common good is different from a public good because it is not guaranteed.
A public good is things like the fire department that serves everyone.
A common good is something that we as an ecosystem allocate based on the idea that it will provide long-term value to the ecosystem.
The reward pool is not free money. The reward pool is allocated to you based on the idea that it will improve the ecosystem.
I do not think we treat the reward pool like this right now.
Right now we treat the reward pool like a public good.
Right now we look at the reward pool and say, "no one controls it."
But this is not true.
It would be very cool if that were true but it is not. Free money does not exist.
If you are getting upvotes it is because people believe you are going to help the ecosystem; in theory anyways.
If you receive downvotes it is because people believe you OR the curator are not good for the ecosystem; in theory anyways. That being said, sometimes downvotes are simply just a disagreement of rewards which I covered in my last post!
If you get downvoted sometimes it means you did nothing wrong. Sometimes it is a disagreement of curation rewards. Sometimes it has nothing to do with you or what you posted. This can be frustrating but also sometimes who knows why you got downvoted? I have been downvoted many times and I do not know why.
I have been downvoted before. I have been downvoted for who curated me and I have been downvoted for what I curated. That is ok!
Maybe you do not get the max potential curation rewards because of what someone posted or who upvoted it? Maybe you do not get the max author rewards because you got downvoted? That is ok!
The biggest value to Hive is not your rewards or your rating; the biggest value to Hive is it can never be deleted.
This is also a con. What you post is forever. An edited "." does not change that. You can never delete what you what you posted. When you post a "." you can only present the idea that you tried to delete your post; seeing what you originally posted is easy.
So at the end of the day, Hive's reward pool is a common good. At the end of the day, what you posted has been posted!
I created the Gundam accounts because they are fun but also they are a way to contribute to that common good while I get some curation rewards; this is a win win! In my opinions anyways.
I have already been downvoted by one of the accounts that has been upvoted by the manual curators of the Gundam accounts. This is interesting! This is proof that Hive does work.
I think it would be cool if we have the Gundam accounts added to the Zero list to help Downvote and zero out rewards. But I want community feedback.
Your feedback does matter on stuff like this so that is why I am asking.
I did not ask the other Gundam pilots before making this post so for now only these three accounts shown below will be included in my query to you!
Maybe you think the Gundam accounts are weird but I think they are pretty cool 😏
